1998 Auditing Symposium

The Center for Assurance Services at the University of Waterloo is pleased to announce a symposium to be held at the University March 26-28, 1998. The Conference will be sponsored by the Ernst & Young Foundation (Canada) and co-sponsored by the Auditing Section of the American Accounting Association. Proceedings will be published as a supplement to Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory, subject to editorial review and approval by the Editor of the journal.

Theme

This symposium will focus on issues related to Assurance Services, broadly considered, with a particular interest in services beyond those involving an audit of historic financial statements.

Note: Assurance Services are independent professional services that improve the quality of information, or its context, for decision makers.

Papers are invited from academe and practice. Submitted papers should be at an advanced stage of completion. Authors must adhere to the "Editorial Policy Publication of Auditing Symposium Papers" published in Volume 11, 1992 supplement to Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory. Copies of "Instructions to Authors" contained in this policy statement are published in each issue of Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory or are available, upon request, from the University of Waterloo.

Please send four copies of the paper, together with a submission fee of $50.00 (U.S.) payable to the American Accounting Association, by November 1, 1997 to:
