Karla Johnstone Wins
Outstanding Dissertation Award
Karla
Johnstone will receive the Auditing Sections Outstanding
Dissertation Award during the Sections luncheon at the AAA
meeting in New Orleans. Karla received her Ph.D. from the
University of Connecticut in 1997 and is currently an assistant
professor at the University of WisconsinMadison. Her
research interests relate to judgment and decision making in
accounting. Karlas research has investigated the auditors
client acceptance decision for clients of varying risk levels, the
impact of client risk on the judgment processes underlying
concurring partner reviews in auditing, client-auditor negotiation
and accounting curriculum effectiveness. Karlas teaching
interests include auditing and financial accounting. She has
received various awards including the Coopers & Lybrand
Doctoral Fellowship (19941996), the Educational Foundation
for Women in Accounting Laurels Fund Scholarship (1996), the
University of Connecticut Doctoral Fellowship (1995-1996), and the
Connecticut Society of CPAs Ph.D. Scholarship (1995).
