Lillian F. Mills
Lillian F. Mills, Associate Professor, is the Stevie Eller Fellow in Accounting at the University of Arizona. Her research interests in tax compliance and accounting for income taxes and effective tax rates arose through her professional experience, primarily with Price Waterhouse, where she was a senior manager in taxation. Professor Mills especially values her present working relationship with the IRS Large and Midsize Business Research division. In 2003 and 2004 she was a consultant to the IRS/Treasury workgroup developing Form 1120 Schedule M-3.
She earned her Ph.D. at the University of Michigan and joined the University of Arizona in 1997. She teaches undergraduate Introduction to Federal Taxation and graduate International Taxation. She received the 2000 Arizona CPA Foundation Excellence in Teaching Award and the 2004 Eller College Deanís Award for Excellence in Teaching.
She has served on numerous American Accounting Association and American Taxation Association committees, including the AAA Doctoral Consortium Committee, and the selection committees for the AAA Notable Contribution Award and the Deloitte Wildman Award. This year, she is the Chair of the inaugural 2005 KPMG/ATA Tax Doctoral Consortium. Lil Mills is also serving multi-year appointments as a Trustee for the ATA and a board member of the National Tax Association. She serves on the editorial boards of The Accounting Review, Contemporary Accounting Research, National Tax Journal and Accounting Horizons and formerly for The Journal of the American Taxation Association.
