Call for Submissions

2nd Annual Public Interest Section
Mid-Year Meeting

Charleston, South Carolina
April 17 to 18, 2009


The planning committee of the Public Interest Section of the AAA solicits the submission of research for inclusion on the program of the upcoming mid-year meeting, scheduled for April 17 & 18 in Charleston, SC. The public interest is very broadly defined to include any research providing insight into issues of importance to the public, including (but not limited to) regulators, the profession, investors, and academics. Examples of topics encompassed by the public interest include, but are not limited to the following:

  • The roles of accounting in public policy discussions.
  • Corporate governance.
  • The effects of regulatory initiatives on accounting issues.
  • Thoughtful critique of current practices in accounting and academe.
  • Accounting’s use in allocating resources in society.
  • Accounting issues faced by not-for-profit entities.
  • How well current accounting models serve investors’ information needs.

Please submit papers and/or panel proposals to Charlie Cullinan, Program Chair, by January 31, 2009 at cullinan@bryant.edu
