CALL FOR PAPERS

We are pleased to announce that the 2010 AAA Forensic and Investigative Accounting (FIA) Section Midyear Conference will be held in Baton Rouge LA at The Lod Cook Conference Center and Hotel, 3848 W. Lakeshore Drive, 1-866.610.COOK, 225.383.2665.

The conference will begin Friday afternoon, May 7, at 1:00 and conclude Saturday, May 8 at noon, and feature former Controller of HealthSouth, Aaron Beam. Mr. Beam spent some time in prison for participating in “cooking the books.” He will release his book The Wagon to Disaster, on November 1, 2009. www.aaronbeam.net. The Conference will contain plenary sessions, panels, and concurrent sessions.

Papers, cases, or panel discussions on any area of forensic accounting, fraud, or litigation support are welcome. A special effort will be made to provide opportunities for doctoral students and assistant professors. As a result, we strongly encourage submissions that have been authored (or co-authored) and will be presented by assistant professors or doctoral students. To indicate that a submission meets this criterion, please include an asterisk (*) at the beginning of the title of the paper.
The deadline for submission for all papers, cases, and panels is February 8, 2010.

All submissions must be in English. Author(s) will be notified of conference acceptance/rejection by February 26, 2010. Authors of accepted papers agree they will attend and register for the meeting which requires paying the appropriate meeting registration fee ($125).

All submissions must be submitted via e-mail to Larry Crumbley (dcrumbl@lsu.edu) in Word or pdf format and must include the following:

  • Title and abstract page with a 150-word (maximum) abstract, author name(s), affiliations for all authors, and contact information (e-mail and postal addresses and voice and fax numbers)
  • Full text that does not identify the author(s)

Papers should not be sent by fax but can be sent by regular mail.
Papers accepted and delivered at the conference will have the option to be published it in the Journal of Forensic and Investigative Accounting, provided that the author(s) adequately address the comments of the reviewers and Editor.
