Call For Papers

We are pleased to announce that the 2011 Midyear Meeting of the Financial Accounting and Reporting Section (FARS) will be held in Tampa Bay, FL, at the Marriott Tampa Waterside Hotel on January 27-29, 2011. The FARS meeting will consist of a doctoral consortium, a recruiting reception, some plenary sessions, and research paper sessions.  This year, the date and location of the FARS meeting will be the same as the midyear meeting of the International Section.  One plenary and one research session will be jointly sponsored by the two sections.

FARS is accepting submissions of research papers from its members.  In organizing the FARS Midyear Meeting, the Section decided that a special effort should be made to provide opportunities for doctoral students and assistant professors with interests in financial accounting and reporting.  As a result, the Section strongly encourages submissions that have been authored (or co-authored) and will be presented by assistant professors or doctoral students.  Submitters should identify if their submission meets this criterion when entering information in SPRS.

The deadline for submission is Wednesday, September 1, 2010.

To submit a research paper:

  • Prepare two separate documents, one containing your paper, one containing your abstract.
  • Do not include any author name(s) or contact information in either document. 
  • Both documents should be double-spaced, in 12-point font, with 1” margins. 
  • Go to the FARS Submission Fee Payment Form to pay the $50 submission fee.
  • Log into the AAA FARS Section SPRS.  Click “Create Program Submission”, and follow the instructions within the submission form.

Call For Volunteers

If you are interested in serving FARS by reviewing manuscripts, being a moderator or discussant for the Midyear Meeting, please follow these steps:

  • Go to the AAA FARS Section SPRS.
  • An account has been created for you, but if you have not logged into the SPRS previously, you will need to create your own password. To do this click “Unknown/Forgotten Password” at the bottom of the FARS Section SPRS Welcome Page to have a temporary password emailed to you, giving you access to your account.
  • Once you are logged into your account, click “Modify Profile/Volunteer Information” and change the password to your personal choice.
  • Scroll down the profile page until you see the drop down lists. In the drop down list for “Conference Role(s) Interested In,” select those roles in which you would like to serve for the FARS Midyear Meeting. The meeting coordinators will search for you based upon your selections in this drop down list.
  • So that the coordinators can assign you to submissions that best fit your expertise, please make selections within the “Subject” and “Method” drop down lists as well.
