Call For Papers for the Information Systems Section

The Information Systems Section of the American Accounting Association (AAA) will hold its 2011 Midyear Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, at the InterContinental Buckhead. The meeting will include a plenary speaker, pre-conference workshops, panel discussions, research paper sessions, education paper sessions and workshops, and interactive short papers. The 9th annual AIS New Scholar Consortium will also precede the meeting.

Submissions:
Research papers should follow the style and submission guidelines of the Journal of Information Systems. Likewise, instructional cases should be in a format similar to that used in Issues in Accounting Education.

Submissions are not eligible for consideration if they: 1) have been published or accepted for publication, or 2) were presented at the 2010 AAA Annual Meeting, or at more than one AAA regional meeting or other academic conference unless the author(s) indicate the paper is substantially different due to further development. Papers presented at the Research Forum of the AAA Annual Meeting are eligible for consideration. It should be noted that papers accepted for presentation at the 2011 Midyear IS Section Conference may not also be submitted for presentation at the AAA Annual Meeting scheduled for August 2011 unless the paper is substantially different due to further development. Furthermore, a submission cannot be submitted at both the IS concurrent sessions and the SET concurrent sessions.

Deadline: All paper submissions should be made no later than September 15, 2010.

To submit a paper:

  1. Prepare two separate documents, one for your paper, one for your abstract.
  2. Do not include any author name(s) or contact information in either document.
  3. Both documents should be double-spaced, in 12-point font, with 1" margins.
    NOTE: The submitter may submit directly for the ISP Session, or may allow the paper to be considered for the ISP Session should it not be accepted for a Concurrent Session.  Papers submitted directly for the ISP Session may be works in progress.
  4. Log into the AAA IS/SET SPRS, click “Create Program Submission”, and follow the instructions within the submission form (more SPRS information, such as the web site, will be available in the near future).

To submit proposals for panels:

  1. Prepare a document with your proposal.
  2. Do not include any submitter name(s) or contact information in the document.
  3. Log into the AAA IS/SET SPRS, click "Create Program Submission," and follow the instructions within the submission form.

Call for Volunteers:
If you are interested in reviewing manuscripts and/or being a moderator or discussant, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to the AAA IS/SET SPRS.
  2. An account has been created for you, but if you have not logged into the SPRS previously, you will need to create your own password. To do this click “Unknown/Forgotten Password” at the bottom of the IS/SET Section SPRS Welcome Page to have a temporary password emailed to you, giving you access to your account.
  3. Once you are logged into your account, click “Modify Profile/Password” and change the password to your personal choice.
  4. Scroll down the profile page until you see the drop down lists. In the drop down list for “Conference Role(s) Interested In,” select those roles in which you would like to play a part for the IS Midyear Meeting. The meeting coordinators will search for you based upon your selections in this drop down list.

So that the coordinators can assign you to submissions that best fit your expertise, make selections for as many of the other drop-down lists as you feel are applicable. Making selections for “Research Method Classifications” and “Topic Classifications” would be especially helpful.
