Call for Papers

Members of the American Accounting Association, academicians, practitioners, and doctoral students are invited to participate in the 2011 AAA Southwest (SWAAA) Regional Meeting held in conjunction with the FBD meeting at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Houston, Texas.
Participation is invited in the following segments of the meeting:
- Completed papers
- Proposals for panel discussions
- Proposals for CPE (1.5 hour or 3 hour sessions)
- Teaching strategies forum
Papers, panels, and CPE may encompass any topical area of accounting and may be theoretical or practice-oriented. The program will be structured around the best submissions. The papers will be sent out for "blind referee review." Completed submissions should be received in electronic form no later than October 11, 2010.
A special session during the conference will be organized around the theme “Enron: 10 Years Later” and papers in that area are encouraged for this session.
To submit:
- If you are submitting a completed paper:
- Prepare two separate documents, one for your paper, one for your abstract.
- If you are submitting a proposal for a panel, CPE, or the teaching strategies forum:
- Prepare one document with your proposal.
- Do not include any author name(s) or contact information in the document(s).
- The document(s) should be double-spaced, in 12-point font, with 1” margins.
- Log into the AAA Southwest Region SPRS. Click “Create Program Submission”, and follow the instructions within the submission form.
- Authors of completed papers may choose whether to publish an abstract, or the paper and abstract (no more than 10 pages in length, single-spaced, 12 point font), in the meeting proceedings by selecting the appropriate option in the submission form’s “AAA License Agreement.”
Papers may also have been submitted to the American Accounting Association National meeting, but should not have been published elsewhere before the Southwest meeting.
Special Awards:
The following awards are expected to be given at the meeting:
- FBD Outstanding Paper Award
- Best Education Research Paper and Creative Teaching Award (Both Awards Sponsored by the Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum Section)
Call For Volunteers
If you are interested in serving the Southwest by reviewing manuscripts, being a moderator or discussant for the Southwest Regional Meeting, please follow these steps:
- Log into the AAA Southwest Region SPRS.
- Once you are logged into your account, click “Modify Profile/Volunteer Information.”
- Scroll down the profile page until you see the Volunteer Information drop down lists. In the drop down list for “Conference Role(s) Interested In,” select those roles in which you would like to serve for the Southwest Regional Meeting. The meeting coordinators will search for you based upon your selections in this drop down list.
- So that the coordinators can assign you to submissions that best fit your expertise, please make selections within the “Subject Area” and “Research Method” drop down lists as well.
