Twenty-first Annual Strategic and Emerging Technologies Research Workshop

The Twenty-first Annual Research Workshop on Strategic and Emerging Technologies in Accounting, Auditing, and Tax will be held Saturday August 4, 2012 in Washington, DC. The Strategic and Emerging Technologies Section of the American Accounting Association sponsors the Workshop. It is held in conjunction with the AAA Annual Meeting, August 4–8, 2012 in Washington, DC. The website for the Workshop is http://aaahq.org/set/events/workshop.html. Registration fees will be waived for doctoral students, and presentations by doctoral students are welcomed. Two Best Paper awards will be given: one for the best paper submitted by a doctoral student and one for the best paper submitted by a faculty member.
Papers are welcome in the application of strategic and emerging technologies to any area of the accounting discipline. Papers may employ any aspect of strategic or emerging technologies. Examples presented at recent workshops include textual analysis, XML, XBRL, REA, continuous assurance, data mining, evidential reasoning, information modeling, genetic programming, artificial neural networks, natural language processing, intelligent databases, intelligent agents and object oriented computing.
A submission to the Workshop is by an extended abstract with subsequent submission of the full paper. Early stage research and doctoral proposals from doctoral students are particularly encouraged. The registration fee is waived for doctoral students presenting their research. Papers will be considered for the SET Section Journal, Journal of Emerging Technologies in Accounting (JETA), at the option of the author. Please, all submissions should be in either RTF or MS Word format – no pdf files.
1 May 2012: Email either (1) extended abstract with paper title, name of authors and description of approximately 300 words, or (2) the full paper to all members of the program committee below with SET Workshop in the subject.
15 May 2012: Decisions emailed.
1 July 2012: Full papers due.
