Consortium Information, Registration, and Program

The Doctoral Consortium is filled and there is a waiting list.
The Financial Accounting and Reporting Section (FARS) of the American Accounting Association is sponsoring the third annual FARS Doctoral Consortium on January 27, 2006 at the Sheraton Midtown Atlanta Hotel at Colony Square in Midtown Atlanta, GA. The Consortium commences at 8:00 a.m. and concludes at noon on Friday, January 27, 2006. The Consortium is scheduled to coincide with the 2006 FARS Midyear Meeting which begins at noon that same Friday and concludes at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2006. The purpose of the Consortium is to foster doctoral student research by providing a forum in which participants can learn from leading researchers in the field.

Doctoral Student Eligibility
The Consortium is open to all Ph.D. Students who have an interest in financial accounting and reporting research and who are also currently a student member of the American Accounting Association. Students may be at any stage in their program, and there is no limit on how many students may attend from each university. However, there is a limit on the total number of students who can attend the Consortium, and applicants will be accepted on a first-come basis.

Doctoral Student Registration Information
The Doctoral Consortium is filled and there is now a waiting list.

To encourage attendance at the Consortium and Midyear Meeting, FARS will offer a substantially reduced student registration fee of only $5. Deadline for Registration for the Consortium is December 16. Note: Registration form must include hotel confirmation number, and if sharing a room with another student, provide student’s name. Registration will not be processed if this information is not completed.

Hotel Accommodations and Information
Students who attend the FARS Doctoral Consortium are eligible to receive a complimentary night accommodation (two nights, if students share a room) at the Sheraton Midtown Atlanta Hotel at Colony Square for Thursday (Friday) night. The complimentary room night(s) will be credited AFTER attending the doctoral consortium. Students should make their reservations directly with the hotel and will need to provide a credit card number to the hotel. NOTE: hotel reservationists and front desk personnel will not be aware of comp night arrangements; this will be handled by AAA meeting staff on-site prior to the conclusion of the meeting. If unable to attend the meeting, be sure to cancel hotel reservations to avoid a cancellation penalty.

Meeting Cancellation Policy
Due to limited number of participants allowed to attend the Doctoral Consortium, please cancel your registration if you are not able to attend. This may allow another student who is wait-listed to attend the consortium. Email your cancellation to the AAA (info@aaahq.org).

Americans with Disabilities Act The American Accounting Association intends to comply fully with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Any members planning to attend this meeting who have special needs, as covered by the ADA, are requested to notify Debbie Gardner at the American Accounting Association, debbie@aaahq.org or (941) 556-4101 to facilitate identification and accommodation of these needs by the Association.
