Deloitte
We gratefully acknowledge the support of
Deloitte U.S. Firms for the 2007 ABO Doctoral Consortium.

The Accounting, Behavior, and Organizations Section of the AAA is pleased to announce its second Doctoral Consortium. The Consortium will be held in conjunction with the annual ABO Research Conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania October 19th and 20th. The Consortium will be moderated by Steven Kaplan (previous BRIA editor). The Consortium should be of interest to both PhD students interested in conducting behavioral research and new faculty conducting research in the area (i.e., first three years post PhD).

The Consortium will include a panel discussion/presentations by four well-known researchers: Anne Magro (George Mason University), Laureen Maines (Indiana University), Mark Peecher (University of Illinois), and Kristi Towry (Emory University). The first session is intended to provide attendees with insights into conducting behavioral research from top scholars in the fields of tax, financial, auditing, and managerial accounting, including insights into how to successfully start an academic career. A session will follow in which attendees will form small groups and meet with one of the four top scholars. This session is intended to allow attendees the opportunity to meet other attendees and a top scholar in an informal setting.

The Consortium will take place the morning of October 19th immediately prior to the ABO Research Conference. Consortium and Conference registration is free for student members of the AAA (students need not be members of the ABO section). In addition, three nights hotel will be paid by the ABO section for the first 20 PhD student registrants. Students will share a room with another student participant (two participants to a room). Hotel pairings will be made by ABO. Registration includes Friday and Saturday lunch as well as an appetizer reception on Friday. Student cost will thus be only the cost of transportation and breakfast and dinner Friday and Saturday. This makes the Consortium and Conference a very affordable opportunity for your students.

Questions about the Consortium can be addressed to Steve Kaplan at steve.kaplan@asu.edu. Information about the Research Conference and registration materials can be found at http://aaahq.org/meetings/2007ABO_online.htm. The Doctoral Consortium is now FULL.

In order to guarantee a free hotel room for the first 20 student registrants, registrations must be received by the AAA by September 6. Please note that this is an earlier deadline than the regular conference deadline. Registrations received later than September 6 will be considered for a hotel room if rooms are still available at the conference rate.

We are excited about this opportunity to bring together young behavioral researchers and more experienced researchers in the field to exchange ideas and experiences and hope that you will be able to attend.
