Meeting Information
Tired of warm, balmy weather? Well, we have the solution for you!
Registration is open for the Government & Non-Profit Section 2007 Mid-Year
Conference to be held at the GASB offices in Norwalk, CT, on March 2-3. The
primary hotel for the meeting is the Four Points by Sheraton, the only full
service hotel in the immediate area.
Highlights of the meeting include:
- Presentations by GASB members and staff.
- Presentations by the FASB staff and the FAF.
- Breakout paper presentations by members of the Section on both basic and
applied research topics.
- Emerging Issues Research Forum - doctoral students and faculty are
encouraged to submit theoretical, practical, or pedagogy papers in the early
stages of development. The focus of this session is a hands-on workshop
where authors and participants receive and provide high quality feedback in
a collegial environment. The goal is assisting authors in developing their
paper. Please include a note with your submission to indicate "Emerging
Issues Research Forum", and indicate if you are a doctoral student.
- Special dinner at The Red Barn with a menu sure to please everyone
(including Smitty, who is rather particular about his meat and potatoes)!
The meal and transportation to and from the restaurant will be provided.
- The program is shaping up to include many great events. Thanks to Terry
Patton who is lining up an interesting set of speakers from both the GASB
and FASB to talk about recent standards, emerging issues, and future
research.
- The conference will include theoretical, practical, and pedagogical papers
on any GNP accounting research topic.
We look forward to seeing you in sunny Norwalk this March (we are later this
year, so snow shouldn't be a problem).
