ABSTRACT: Accounting education has existed in some form for centuries. A solid understanding of the origin of both the educational processes and the methods of accounting is important for individuals who wish to grasp the wealth of knowledge that allows educators and students to become skilled in this practice. This article offers a look into the evolution of education and accounting, and then examines the evolution of accounting education and business practices that have led to the existing accounting curricula and practice that exists in modern times. Also discussed are the current changes in accounting education, along with the technological impacts on the profession and projected future directions of accounting.
