CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

Accounting educators, students and professionals are invited to submit completed manuscripts and ideas for panels or workshops for presentation at the 48th Annual Meeting of the Ohio Region of the American Accounting Association. Papers may encompass any topical area of accounting and may be theoretical or practice-oriented. Accounting education papers and cases are also strongly encouraged for submission. All papers submitted will be sent out for blind referee review.

The 2007 meeting will be held in Columbus, Ohio at the University Plaza Hotel. The hotel is centrally located just north of the Ohio State University campus at 3110 Olentangy River Road, Columbus, Ohio 43202. A limited number of hotel rooms have been set aside for conference participants at the rate of $97 per night (plus tax). Please make sure to identify yourself as being with the American Accounting Association when you call (614) 267-7461 to make reservations. Academics and professional from the Ohio region, as well as those from other regions and overseas, are welcome to participate. CPE credit will be available.

At the opening Friday plenary session, the Ohio Society of CPAs will discuss the "Status of the Profession and an Ohio Accounting Update." A panel of editors will include representatives from several journals, including Kathy Williams, Editor-in-Chief of Strategic Finance and Management Accounting Quarterly. Other panels will topics such as "Accounting Regulation in Ohio," and "Approaches for Metropolitan and Regionally-Focused Accounting Units to Thrive."

A student manuscript award will be sponsored by Deloitte & Touche. Three awards will be given at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. For information about the competition, please contact Heidi Meier at Cleveland State University (email: h.meier@csuohio.edu; phone: (216) 687-3671).

All papers submitted will be eligible for The Andrews Best Manuscript Award. The Teaching and Curriculum Section will present a Best Educational Paper Award. Doctoral Students are encouraged to submit papers. Cash prizes accompany each Award.

Please send your papers, panel suggestions, and other ideas to Rob Larson at the University of Dayton (Robert.Larson@notes.udayton.edu). To help with the review process, all papers submitted must include an abstract and should be double-spaced, using a 12-point type, and have 1" margins all around. Electronic submissions must be sent as a Word attachment without any identifying information included. The email sent with the attachment must contain the names, affiliations, and complete contact information for all authors, as well as the appropriate topic area (ABO, Accounting Education (Teaching & Curriculum), Accounting History, Auditing, Financial Accounting and Reporting, Gender Issues in Accounting, Government and Non-profit, Information Systems, International Accounting, Management Accounting, Public Interest, Taxation, Other (please specify)).

The official submission deadline is January 31, 2007. Early submissions are strongly encouraged. However, submissions will be accepted until Monday, February 5, 2007. Notification of acceptance will be sent no later than March 16, 2007. At least one author of an accepted paper must register for the meeting and present the paper. Paper and panel presentations will take place all day Friday, and until about noon on Saturday.

All those interested in reviewing manuscripts, being a discussant or being a moderator, are also asked to send an email to Rob. Be sure to indicate your area(s) of preference.

While electronic submissions are preferred, paper-based ones are also acceptable. Send one file copy or four (4) hard copies of your submission(s) to Rob Larson at:
