Selection Process for AAA Western Region Meeting Locations, Hosts, and Officers

Each year, a secretary/treasurer is elected at the annual business meeting of the Western Region of the AAA. The executive committee will offer a candidate's name into nomination, and then nominations will be accepted from the floor. The election takes place after nominations are closed. The secretary/treasurer will serve as program chair the following year, then as vice president the third year, and will serve as president and host the meeting in the fourth year. For the next year this person will serve as a member of the executive committee as a past president.

Anyone wishing to be nominated for the secretary/treasurer must make a firm commitment of five years of service to the Region. During these five years as a member of the executive committee, the successful candidate would be expected to attend two annual committee meetings, held in conjunction with the national and regional meetings. In addition, this person must serve as program chair during the second year and as host of the meeting during the fourth year.

The executive committee accepts proposals from persons who are interested in being nominated for secretary/treasurer. These proposals should delineate the support the person would have from his/her school as well as suggesting a site for the meeting together with information about the site. They should be directed to the current vice president.
