Following the Spring 2020 Council Meeting, Monte Swain was elected as the 2020-2021 Council Chair-Elect.

Since graduating from Michigan State University, Professor Monte Swain has researched and taught management accounting at Brigham Young University. He is published in a number of scholarly and practitioner journals and is currently researching strategic performance measurement models and information presentation effects in balanced scorecards. In addition, he is an author of cases and textbooks in management accounting, and writes and consults on the effective use of strategy and strategic measurement systems in organizations. Most recently, the IMA recognized him with it Distinguished Award for Management Accounting Educators. Throughout his career, Monte has been involved in various capacities with the Teaching, Learning and Curriculum section (including service on its strategic task force), the Management Accounting Section (Secretary/Treasurer and President), and the AAA at-large (strategic task force and chairing the Membership Committee and as well as various award committees). Monte also serves in advisory roles for the IMA, AICPA, and CIMA.
