Publishing academic research can often feel like a complex and opaque process, particularly for doctoral students and early-career scholars. This webinar provides a practical roadmap for navigating the publication journey, from identifying promising research ideas and developing a compelling study to managing the review process and ultimately achieving publication. Drawing on the experiences of successful researchers, editors, and reviewers, the session will address key decisions that influence publication success, including project selection, manuscript development, journal targeting, responding to reviewer feedback, and maintaining a sustainable research pipeline. Participants will gain actionable insights and strategies to help them navigate the realities of academic publishing and advance their scholarly careers.

Learning Objective(s): 1. Identify characteristics of research projects that are most likely to lead to publishable contributions. 2. Develop effective strategies for transforming research ideas into well-structured manuscripts. 3. Evaluate factors to consider when selecting appropriate journals and positioning research contributions. 4. Understand the editorial and peer-review process, including common reasons for manuscript rejection and revision. 5. Apply best practices for responding to reviewer comments and managing revise-and-resubmit decisions. 6. Develop a sustainable approach to building and managing a long-term research pipeline.
