IMA Case Conference
The Management Accounting Section (MAS) of the American Accounting Association and the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) invite submissions for the 2027 IMA Case Conference. The conference will feature a corporate tour on the afternoon of January 7, followed by a full‑day case conference on January 8 at Emory University.
This engaging, hands‑on conference is designed for faculty who want to elevate their teaching and expand their case‑writing expertise. Participants will leave with practical ideas, new resources, and fresh inspiration to bring back to their campuses. Whether you are new to case teaching or an experienced case writer, the conference offers valuable learning, collaboration, and networking with colleagues who share a passion for case‑based learning.
The MAS/IMA Teaching Case Conference is requesting case submissions (full cases with teaching notes) and case proposals (early‑stage case ideas). In addition to cases on traditional managerial accounting topics, we especially welcome submissions on current and emerging areas such as Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Engagement, Access, and Community (EAC), and Sustainability (ESG).
The 2027 program will include three types of sessions:
- Case Sessions – Presenters will have approximately 25 minutes to present their cases, answer questions, and receive feedback.
- Case Workshop Sessions – Presenters may share case ideas and receive guidance on how to further develop them into full teaching cases.
- Editor Panel – Editors from the IMA Educational Case Journal (IECJ) will discuss the review process and offer advice on writing high‑quality teaching cases.
Submission Process
- Submission deadline: Wednesday, September 30, 2026
- For full teaching cases, please upload one PDF file that includes both the case and the teaching notes. For case ideas, please upload one PDF file containing your case proposal.

Review and Publication Consideration
- Authors who wish to have their case considered for publication in IECJ may elect to have accepted cases forwarded to the IMA for first‑round journal review. Authors will have the opportunity to revise materials to meet IECJ publication guidelines.
- Authors will be notified of conference acceptance within one month of submission.
