2026 SET Transformative Technologies Virtual Workshop

The Workshop focuses on transformative technologies that are reshaping the accounting profession. Previous Workshops have explored topics such as robotic process automation (RPA), regulatory technology (RegTech), quantum computing, and artificial intelligence (AI). 

The 2026 Workshop will be held virtually on Friday, October 9, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Eastern Time). This year’s theme focuses on Agentic AI and its transformative impact on accounting and auditing. The Workshop will explore practical applications of Agentic AI, including autonomous AI agents for accounting, auditing, financial reporting, decision support, governance, and assurance. Discussions will also examine emerging research opportunities, implementation challenges, and how collaboration between academia and industry can accelerate innovation in research, education, and professional practice.

The Workshop is co-organized by Arion Cheong (Stevens Institute of Technology), Yunsen Wang (Montclair State University), and Don Warren (Lamar University).
