Run/Walk Group
Greetings!
It’s almost time again for the AAA’s Annual Meeting Run & Walk Group – a tradition started in 2013 at the Annual Meeting!
This year’s Annual Meeting will take place in downtown Washington, DC at the Marriott Marquis Washington, DC and The Westin Washington, DC Downtown Hotel.
If you want to run or walk outside during the Annual Meeting and blow off the treadmills, a running/walking group is being planned so that you can be assured of having other AAA people to accompany you, regardless of your pace.
The run/walk group has been a favorite for Annual Meeting attendees. Runners and walkers will show up by 5:30 am Eastern outside the front entrance of the Marriott Marquis on August 12, 13, and 14. We'll then head out at 5:35 am.
If you have any questions, please contact Melissa Beran Samuelson at mbsamuel@asu.edu or Angelica G. Castro at agcastrocarden@utep.edu.
The run/walk group is open to all attendees, their family members, and friends. Although the AAA supports this effort enthusiastically, it is an informal group, and hence, no registration… just show up and have fun while mitigating the damage that travel can inflict on your normal fitness routine. You may meet some colleagues that you wouldn’t have met otherwise! We do have a sign-up form if you wish to receive reminders about the group or be notified of any changes.
Get up, get out, and enjoy the sights of downtown DC on your morning run or walk.
Here are several routes to choose from whether you prefer to walk or run:
- 2 Mile: White House Walk
- 3 Mile: White House Run
- 5 Mile: Capitol Hill Run
- 6 Mile: National Mall Run
- 6 Mile: Rock Creek Trail
- 9 Mile: Potomac Park Run
Happy running and walking!
