Announcing the ABO Virtual Exchange (ABOVE)

We are thrilled to be launching the ABO Virtual Exchange (ABOVE), a new research webinar series designed to connect our global membership and accelerate high-quality behavioral accounting research. Each presentation slot is 30 minutes, allowing 15 minutes for presentation and 15 minutes for Q&A. The Zoom link and the papers will be distributed to registered attendees one week before the event. You can expect 3 webinars between now and May 2026, with the plan to increase that number in future years. Please join us in December for our inaugural webinar!

2026 Accounting Behavior and Organizations Research Conference
October 15-16, 2026
Baltimore, Maryland

Announcing the location and dates for the ABO 2026 Midyear Meeting! Mark your calendars to join us in Baltimore, MD! The conference will begin on Thursday, October 15th with the Doctoral Consortium led by Bernard Reichert and an evening reception and run through the afternoon of Saturday, October 17th to allow you some time to enjoy the city!

Baltimore, the “City of Firsts”, is home to the first U.S. railroad, the first Roman Catholic cathedral, and the first public aquarium. It is an East Coast city with a large international airport located ten miles from the city center. Its famous harbor is a vibrant and beautiful place to walk and enjoy views of the city. We look forward to connecting with all of you there for an exceptional program.

A Warm Welcome and Exciting Initiatives from Your New ABO Section President

Dear Members of the Accounting, Behaviors, and Organizations (ABO) Section,

It is a true honor and a privilege to begin my term as the President of the ABO Section. I look forward to serving our vibrant community and working alongside you to further advance behavioral accounting research and education.

Leadership Transition and Gratitude

The fall semester marks a time of transition, and I would like to begin by expressing my sincere gratitude to the immediate Past President, Aaron Saiewitz, and the entire outgoing Executive Board and Steering Committee Members for their dedicated service and exceptional leadership throughout the past year. Their efforts have positioned the ABO Section for continued success.

The ABO Section is fortunate to have a dedicated Executive Board of outstanding members who have stepped up to serve and support our section this year. Our section thrives because of the many members who are willing to volunteer their time to serve.

Our Section mission is to stimulate interchange and research on the relationship between behavioral science and accounting. This might include, for example, the behavioral impact of accounting information, the incorporation of behavioral and attitudinal measures in accounting and human resource accounting.

To promote the integration of organizational and general system theories with developments in accounting theory. The former might include such constructs as organizational effectiveness, open vs. closed systems, contingency theory, constituencies, organizational adaptability or resilience, and social responsibility accounting.

Behavioral Research in Accounting publishes original research relating to accounting and how it affects and is affected by individuals and organizations. For PhD Students

The Accounting, Behavior, and Organizations Section of the AAA hosts a Doctoral Consortium in conjunction with the ABO Research Conference annually. The Consortium is designed for PhD students interested in conducting behavioral research. New faculty (i.e., those less than three years post PhD) also will be considered for attendance at the Consortium, space permitting.

The ABO Doctoral Consortium provides an exciting opportunity to bring together new and established behavioral researchers to exchange research ideas and career experiences. We hope that you will join us!
