The SET section operates or participates in a range of events during the year. For further details of each of the following click through on each link:
Workshops and Conferences:
- SET Research Workshop - each year since 1991 the section has hosted an annual research workshop event. See details of recent events, and the forthcoming event, from here.
- Transformative Technologies Workshop - each year since2009 the section has hosted an annual workshop that introduces several emerging technologies to the practicing and academic accounting communities. Industry leaders provide introductions to transformative ideas, and discussion focuses on how these transformations will change accounting - and generate new research and teaching activities.
- Special Topic Conferences and Workshops - special topic conferences and workshops are supported by the section on an as-needed basis.
Call for Papers- 32nd Annual Strategic and Emerging Technologies Research Workshop
The 32nd Annual Research Workshop on Strategic and Emerging Technologies in Accounting, Auditing, and Tax will be held on Saturday, August 5th, 2023, at the AAA Annual Meeting. The Strategic and Emerging Technologies Section of the American Accounting Association (http://aaahq.org/set) sponsors the Workshop.
RESEARCH DOMAIN:
Papers are welcome on any topic relating to strategic and emerging technologies applied to any area of accounting, applying any research methodology including design science (DSR).
KEY DATES:
May 29, 2023 - Email either (1) extended abstract with paper title, name of authors and description of approximately 300 words, or (2) the full paper to all members of the program committee below with “SET Research Workshop” in the subject line. All submissions must be MSWord format – no PDFs.
June 6, 2023 - Decisions emailed to authors.
July 10, 2023 - Full papers due.

Journal
The Journal of Emerging Technologies in Accounting (JETA) is the academic journal of the Strategic and Emerging Technologies Section of the American Accounting Association. The purpose of this section is to improve and facilitate the research, education, and practice of advanced information systems, cutting-edge technologies, and artificial intelligence in the fields of accounting, information technology and management advisory systems. JETA’s Mission is to encourage, support and disseminate the production of a stream of high-quality research focused on emerging technologies and artificial intelligence applied or applicable to a wide set of accounting related problems.
