About Financial Accounting and Reporting Section OUR 2023 SECTION MIDYEAR MEETING Hello FARS Members, Our next midyear meeting will be held from January 19 to 21, 2023, in Phoenix, Arizona. The meeting will be primarily in person, with a small virtual component. You can expect the usual high-quality FARS midyear meeting, with a doctoral consortium, plenary sessions, awards presentations, concurrent research sessions, and roundtable research sessions. While we hope that many of you will attend FARS in person, we realize that travel is difficult for some given teaching schedules and possible travel limitations. To accommodate those of you who are not able to travel to Phoenix, we plan to one-way stream the plenary sessions and awards presentations, and we will offer a limited number of concurrent research sessions over Zoom during the midyear meeting. For the concurrent research sessions on Zoom, the presenter will be remote, and anyone registered to attend the midyear meeting can participate. The call for FARS midyear meeting paper submissions will go out soon, and submitters will indicate whether they prefer to present their paper in-person vs. through Zoom. Registration information will soon be available; we are holding the in-person registration fees at their January 2020 level, but increasing the virtual registration fees to reflect technology costs related to streaming, etc. We will soon be sending out nomination information related to the FARS doctoral consortium. Please keep in mind that FARS has a small budget for scholarships for doctoral students and junior faculty members. We hope to see you in Phoenix! I am excited to serve as your Section President and to continue the strong tradition of scholarship and community that makes FARS such a special home within the AAA. I would like to thank John Jiang for his thoughtful leadership this past year. Under his guidance, the section had a successful year filled with high-quality research presentations, thoughtful discussions, and meaningful connections. The Annual Meeting last month was also a great success, with 475 submissions. I am grateful to all of you who contributed by presenting, reviewing, moderating, or attending. Looking ahead, I am pleased to share that our 2025–2026 committees are already staffed and ready to get to work.
