The Board of Directors of the American Accounting Association established a series of Presidential Lectures, to be delivered at the Annual Meetings of the Association. Each year the President presiding at the Annual Meeting chooses a scholar or scholars to serve in the role of Presidential Scholar(s). To encourage broad dissemination, when presented by the scholar/s, the Board has requested that The Accounting Review publish these lectures. The first lecture was presented in 1999.
