Call for Nominations for 2025-2026 AAA Nominations Committee Members

 

The Board of Directors invites Members of the American Accounting Association to nominate multiple qualified AAA Members, and/or themselves, as candidates for the 2025-2026 AAA Nominations Committee. Any AAA Member may nominate persons to be considered for the Nominations Committee.

Key Leadership Roles and Responsibilities of the AAA Nominations Committee:

  • Nominate candidates for elective offices of the Association
  • Select a list of nominees to the applicable AAA offices for election by the membership in the Spring 2026.

Committee Composition:

  • The committee consists of the two most recent Past Presidents wiling and able to serve and five members elected by Council during the March Council Meeting from among nominations received from the general membership.
  • Committee members serve for a one-year term beginning September 1, 2025.
  • The five elected members may not be current members of either the Council or the Board of Directors.
  • The Nominations Committee shall be chaired by the most senior, in service, of the Past Presidents serving.
  • Note: Members of the Nominations Committee are not eligible for nomination to the Board of Directors during their term on the Nominations Committee.

Estimated Time Commitment:

  • Committee members could expect to spend between 8 and 10 hours between June and November:
    • The Committee's work begins in June or July with a 60-minute virtual meeting for discussion in anticipation of the opening of the Call For Nominations.
    • Committee members are expected to spend time actively nominating candidates during the Call for Nominations.
    • The Committee meets virtually for 2-4 hours twice per year in early September and late October/early November prior to the Fall Council Meeting.

Instructions for Submitting Nominations

PLEASE NOTE:  AAA Members may nominate multiple qualified candidates. There is no limit to the number of candidates you may nominate.

1.  Contact each nominee and confirm their willingness to be nominated and to serve if elected.
2.  Gather the following required information for each nominee: full name and affiliation, confirmation that they are willing to be nominated and to serve if elected, and up to five reasons you are nominating the AAA member.

Note: Prior to submitting nominees’ names, each nominee must have been contacted and agreed to be nominated and to serve if elected. Each nominee will be contacted by AAA Professional Staff in order to confirm their knowledge of their nomination, agreement to be nominated, and willingness to serve if elected.
