Charge

  • The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee will support the American Accounting Association’s efforts to become an inclusive academy and will continue to advance the vision of being inclusive Thought Leaders in Accounting. The charge includes:
    • ​Assess and support DEI initiatives for the AAA membership at large.
    • Review Best Practices in implementing DEIB initiatives for placement on AAA website.
    • Consult with and advise the Board, Segment Leadership, and the AAA Professional Staff as they carry out the overall AAA DEIB strategy.
    • Evaluate survey results regarding membership climate to determine progress AAA is making toward becoming a more inclusive Association.
    • Begin process to identify systemic barriers across the AAA processes, policies and procedures, and make recommendations.
    • Provide feedback on workshops, trainings and online resources.
    • Curate content for AAA DEI Resource webpage.
    • Develop an action plan to accomplish the committee charge.

 

Membership

  • New Committee members are appointed prior to the Annual Meeting by the AAA Management Team.
  • The DEI Committee shall consist of nine members, including the Chair, each of whom shall normally serve a three-year term, with one-third of the Committee members appointed each year.
  • The Committee is chaired by the Vice President-Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
  • The CEO is a voting member of the DEI Committee.
  • The CIO is ex-officio, non-voting member of the DEI Committee.

Estimated Time Commitment

  • The Committee meets as needed at the discretion of the Chair. 

Responsibilities

  • Fulfill the Committee charter as above.
  • The Chair must submit at least one report per year to the Board of Directors. This report should include accomplishments and suggested modifications and should be sent to the AAA President, the committee’s Board of Directors Liaison, and Governance Manager, Barbara Gutierrez (barbara.gutierrez@aaahq.org)
  • If the Chair has any questions about the charge or responsibilities of this Committee, s/he should contact the Chief Executive Officer or the President.
