President-Elect

Mark S. Beasley

Statement of Interest
The AAA has played a vital role in opening doors to so many opportunities throughout my academic career. The interactions with fellow accounting scholars and practitioners made possible by my engagement within the AAA since my doctoral student days have positively influenced how I approach my research, teaching and service. I would not have enjoyed the same career had I not been actively involved in the AAA, particularly through my AAA service responsibilities within the Auditing Section (President, Treasurer, Historian) and at the AAA level (Vice President - Finance, Board of Directors, Audit Committee).  I would be honored to help advance the influence of the AAA in the global business environment and ensure benefits of AAA membership are enhanced for future generations of accounting thought leaders around the world.

Anne M. Farrell

Statement of Interest
More years back than I dare count, my PhD advisors spoke highly of what the AAA meant to them. What do I have to lose, I thought, by joining? I now know that I had a lot to lose….if I hadn’t joined! Relationships I’ve forged through the AAA have sustained me and opened doors to opportunities I wouldn’t have otherwise had. They’ve shaped the kind of researcher, teacher, colleague, mentor – the kind of scholar – I strive to be.

I can’t repay the AAA, but I try. For example, I’m now AAA VP-Finance and previously served as Publications Processes Task Force Co-Chair and Segment Reporting Task Force Chair. In sections, I’ve served as MAS President and Secretary/Treasurer and ABO Secretary/Treasurer. In these and other roles, I demonstrated my commitment to hearing all voices and collaboratively driving new initiatives and positive change. That would not waiver if I served as your President.

Director-Focusing on Segments

Jennifer Reynolds-Moehrle

Statement of Interest
I am honored by the nomination to stand for election to the AAA Board of Directors as the Director focusing on Segments.  I have been involved as a member and leader of a segment, the AAH Section, and as a member of FARS during my 28 years as a AAA member.  Of particular relevance to this board position, I served as Treasurer of the Academy of Accounting Historians, a 501(c) organization, for 10 years before the academy became a section of AAA.  In that role I had responsibility for budgeting, reporting, and investing decisions over a time period that saw the organization’s net assets increase by 200%. I understand the concerns of segments and appreciate the loyalty that comes with segment involvement, while also fully appreciating the benefits that are possible to members only through the continued strength of the whole organization.

Jay C. Thibodeau

Statement of Interest
I am honored to be a candidate for the position of Director-Focused on Segments at the American Accounting Association (AAA). Over the last 15 years, I have had a variety of opportunities to serve members of the AAA, primarily within the Auditing Section (e.g., as President).  I am grateful to have had these leadership opportunities and I now believe the time is right for me to volunteer again and become a leader in the overall AAA.  We are at a critical time in the profession and I want to help in any way that I can.  I have been an academic accountant for over 30 years now and have developed many relationships through my leadership and participation in AAA sponsored activities.  These relationships should be helpful as I hope for the opportunity to begin my journey as a leader in the AAA as a Director that is Focused on Segments.
