The 2018 Management Accounting Section Meeting will be held at the DoubleTree Paradise Valley Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona on Friday and Saturday, January 5-6, 2018, with an evening reception on Thursday, January 4. The IMA Doctoral Colloquium will be held on Thursday, January 4, with an evening reception on Wednesday, January 3. The Teaching Symposium will be held on Saturday, January 6.

We have a fantastic conference planned, with the opening plenary given by Dr. John Graham, the D. Richard Mead professor of finance at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. Since 1997 Graham has been the director of the Global Business Outlook Survey (http://www.cfosurvey.org), a quarterly CFO survey that assesses the business climate and topical economic issues around the world.

A limited number of rooms have been reserved at the conference rate. PLEASE make your reservations as early as possible to take advantage of this special room rate. We cannot guarantee that any additional rooms will be available in the hotel once our block of rooms is sold out. Hotel reservations can be made at: http://aaahq.org/Meetings/Meeting-Info/sessionaltcd/18MAS01.

The DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Paradise Valley offers an ideal location, close to all of the exciting things to do in Scottsdale, AZ. The resort offers ample opportunities for a stay full of fun including a nine-hole putting green, two outdoor pools, tennis courts, health club and spa, and four onsite restaurants (without a resort fee). The resort is only 1.5 miles from prime shopping and dining in Old Town Scottsdale and minutes away from exhilarating hiking and rock climbing in Camelback Mountains. In addition, the resort’s complimentary shuttle is great for exploring the local area. You can test your skills on one of the nearby Scottsdale golf courses, or visit the adjacent spa for a day of relaxation.

The deadline for submission of research papers for the conference is Friday, August 18, 2017 (midnight EDT). Manuscripts must be submitted through the SSRN conference management system by clicking HERE. The selection of manuscripts for the conference will be announced by October 13, 2017.

We will also be hosting the ninth annual Journal of Management Accounting Research (JMAR) Forum during this meeting, in which select JMAR submissions will be featured in a plenary session and will be published in the Fall 2018 issue of JMAR. If you would like your paper to be considered for the JMAR Forum, in addition to submitting your paper to the MAS Midyear Meeting, you should submit your paper by the August 18, 2017 deadline to JMAR following the regular submission procedures HERE. Please include in your cover letter an indication that you would like your paper to be considered for the JMAR Forum. The standard review procedures for JMAR will apply.

We will also be hosting the MAS Teaching Symposium during the midyear meeting. The Teaching Symposium includes a series of education-focused sessions designed to complement the meeting’s research-focused concurrent sessions. All conference participants are registered for both the research and teaching sessions and are encouraged to attend any and all sessions that they find interesting. More information about submission to the Teaching Symposium will follow.

We rely on volunteer reviewers and discussants to put on a successful conference. Please consider volunteering HERE.
