Rod is the PwC U.S. & Mexico Talent Acquisition & Onboarding Leader.  He has 25 years of professional experience beginning his career in client service before transitioning to human capital.  He has expertise in talent management, workforce planning, organizational design, talent acquisition, performance management, employee relations and employment branding.
Based in Chicago Rod is a Senior Human Capital Executive who is passionate about helping people launch and build their careers.  As the US & Mexico Talent Acquisition Leader at PwC, he is a member of the People Leadership Team and responsible for leading the campus, experienced and catalyst recruitment team across Advisory, Assurance, Tax and Internal Firm Services as well as recruitment related operations, systems and strategies.  Reporting to the firm’s US Chief People Officer he works closely with US firm leadership, faculty relationship partners, market leaders and recruitment teams to design and execute its recruitment strategy; and he actively collaborates and supports the firm's Global Talent Network and strategy.  He drives innovation to build sustainable competitive advantage in attracting top talent via programs, social and digital media and brand-setting activities that are designed to build long lasting relationships with key talent.

Prior to his current role Rod was the Human Capital Strategy Leader for the US Advisory practice at PwC, where he was responsible for the development and direction of the PwC Advisory's people strategy for more than 10,000 partners and staff.  Rod and his team advised the Advisory partners on people initiatives and employee relations issues. The scope of Rod’s role included talent development, talent management, diversity, performance management, staff engagement and coaching.  He also held the role of Market HR Leader for Greater Chicago where he was responsible for the consistent execution of the firm's people strategy for more than 2,200 partners and staff across all lines of service in the firm's Greater Chicago Market. Rod led a team of 29 staff. During the first year in this role PwC was named to the Chicago Tribune's list of "Chicago's Top Workplaces 2010" for the first time. Coming in at #10, PwC was recognized for having a “dynamic, supportive and inclusive culture" as rated by its employees. PwC continued to make this list for the next 3 years Rod was in the role.

Rod has spent the majority of his career with PwC in talent acquisition and sourcing. Rod was the National Director of Experienced Recruitment where he was responsible for the overall recruitment strategy for hiring candidates with 3 or more years of professional experience. On average PwC hired close to 2000 staff per year during his time in this role. He was the National Director of Diversity Sourcing where he was responsible for working with both campus and experienced recruiting to develop and implement successful Firm-wide strategies to hire diverse talent. Early in his career Rod was the Central Region’s Campus Recruiting Leader and a campus Recruiting Manager with responsibilities for some of PwC’s largest sources including University of Illinois and UCLA. Rod began his career in PwC’s Chicago office in 1995 as an Assurance professional.
Rod serves as a board member of the Posse Foundation Chicago Advisory Board and Illinois Wesleyan Accounting Advisory Board. Rod is also a Daniel Burnham Fellow for Leadership Greater Chicago (LGC) working to positively impact socio economic progress in the Chicago area.

Natalie T. Churyk, Ph.D., CPA is the William F. Doyle Endowed Professor of Accountancy at Northern Illinois University (NIU) and the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Accounting Education. She joined NIU in 2001 after her doctoral studies and now mostly teaches at the graduate level. Significant service includes: editorial review board member of the Journal of Forensic & Investigative Accounting; AAA GIWB President (2020-2021), AAA GIWB President  – Elect (2019 – 2020); AAA Council (2016 – 2019); President, AAA TLC (2016 - 2018); Vice-President, AAA TLC 2014 - 2016; Co-President of the AAA Midwest Region (prior acting President and Vice president) (2013 - 2015); Treasurer of AAA TLC (2009 – 2013); Chair/Co-Chair – the TLC, FIA, and Midwest sections/region Membership Acquisition and Retention committees over the periods 2008-2012; and various other committee member appointments such as the AAA National Membership Committee (2011-2014) and AAA Regions Strategic/Pilot Task Force (now known as Strategic Leader Region Committee) (2012 – 2017).

Her research contributes to topics in financial reporting, fraud/ethics, education, and auditing. She has over 120 conference presentations and has amassed over 50 publications in academic and professional journals such as: Journal of Business Research, Issues in Accounting Education, Journal of Accounting Education, Journal of Forensic Accounting Research, Strategic Finance, CPA Journal, Journal of Accountancy, Journal of Forensic and Investigative Accounting, Advances in Accounting Education, Global Perspectives on Accounting Education, and Advances in Accounting Behavioral Research. She is a co-author on three textbooks published by John Wiley & Sons: Accounting and Auditing Research: Tools and Strategies, Mastering the FASB’s Codification and eIFRS: A Case Approach, and Accounting & Auditing Research and Databases: Practitioner’s Desk Reference. For over ten years she was actively involved in developing and delivering CPA Exam Review seminars for NIU and contributed for five years to the Wiley CPA Exam Review: Financial Accounting and Reporting text. 


Cindy Durtschi, DePaul University, Journal of Forensic Accounting Research

Dr. Cindy Durtschi is the EY Professor of Accounting, and director of the MS in Audit and Advisory Services.  She earned her PhD in Accounting from the University of Arizona, and has held teaching positions at Florida State University, Utah State University and DePaul University. Her research appears in the Journal of Accounting Research, Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance, Journal of Forensic Accounting, Issues in Accounting Education as well as other accounting and finance journals. Dr. Durtschi has received numerous teaching awards including the Gus Economos  Distinguished Teaching Award from the Kellstadt Graduate School of Business, and the American Accounting Association Innovation in Audit Education Award for her published case in forensic accounting, “The Tallahassee BeanCounters:  A Problem-Based Learning Case in Forensic Auditing.”  She has written and published numerous original cases related to audit, forensic accounting and data analytics.  Dr. Durtschi is currently a guest editor for the Journal of Forensic Accounting Research, special edition on fraud, and is an associate editor for the Journal of Forensic Accounting Research. She is alsoon the editorial board for Issues in Accounting Education, and Journal of Accounting and Free Enterprise.  Her research interest is studying how to help auditors become better at detecting fraud.  



Yvonne L. Hinson, American Accounting Association CEO

Diversity Matters - How the AAA is Taking Action

Yvonne Hinson, PhD, CPA, CGMA, is the CEO of the American Accounting Association. Prior to assuming this role in September 2020, she served as the Vice President - Academic in Residence for the Association of international Certified Professional Accountants; a position created to foster closer relationships with universities and faculty.  She began her accounting career with Arthur Andersen in Charlotte, NC.  After returning to the University of Tennessee to pursue her Ph.D., Yvonne accepted a position with Wake Forest University.  During her over 18-year career at Wake Forest University she served as a faculty member, Director of Graduate Studies, Director of Accountancy and Dean of Charlotte Programs. Yvonne has served on numerous academic and community committees and nonprofit Boards and is a past President of the Federation of Schools of Accountancy and past Chair of the AAA Membership Advisory Committee. She is currently a member of the Federal Government’s Cost Accounting Standards Board, AACSB Accounting Accreditation Committee, AACSB Accounting Accreditation Policy Committee, IFAC Accounting Education Panel and the IFAC Education Directors Panel. Her research has been published in both academic and practitioner journals.  She earned her BS in accounting and MBA from UNC Charlotte.

Elaine G. Mauldin is BKD Professor at the Robert J. Trulaske, Sr. College of Business at the University of Missouri, having served on its faculty since 1997.  She serves as Faculty Coordinator of the SAP University Alliance.  Elaine earned her Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska.

Elaine is completing two terms as Editor for The Accounting Review (2014-2020) and has served as Associate Editor of the Journal of Information Systems (2003-08, 2010-14). She has published widely in peer-reviewed journals including The Accounting ReviewAccounting HorizonsJournal of Information SystemsAuditing: A Journal of Practice and Theory, Contemporary Accounting ResearchJournal of Accounting and EconomicsJournal of Accounting, Auditing & Finance, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, Research in Accounting Regulation, Accounting Organizations and Society, International Journal of Accounting Information Systems, and Strategic Finance.

Elaine currently serves AAA on the Board of Directors as President and is also a Council member and serves on the Finance Committee.  She previously served as Director-Focusing on Intellectual Property (2016-19), and on AAA Council (2012-15 and 2008-09).  She is a member of the AAA Intellectual Property Task Force III (2016-present), a member of AAA’s Accounting Information Systems (AIS), Auditing (AUD), and Diversity (DI) Sections, previously serving as President of the AIS Section (2008-09).

She previously served on the AAA Finance Committee (2009-12), AAA Doctoral Dissertation Awards for Innovative Research in Accounting Education Committee (2015-16), AAA New Faculty Consortium senior faculty presenter (2015), AAA Annual Meeting Program Committee (2012-13), AAA Sharpening Our Vision Task Force II (2013-14), participant at the Deloitte Trueblood Seminar (2012), AAA Doctoral Consortium senior faculty presenter (2010), Bylaws Review Committee Chair (2006-07) and Annual Meeting Co-Coordinator (2004-05) for AIS (2004-05).

Elaine has twenty-three years’ teaching experience and has received a number of academic awards for excellence including the AIS Section’s Notable Contribution to the Literature Award in 2019, Accounting Horizons Best Paper Award (2014), the AIS Section’s Outstanding Research Paper Award (2007), Best Reviewer Award (2001), and Outstanding Dissertation Award (1998). The University of Missouri has recognized her contributions with the Trulaske College of Business Distinguished Research Award (2017-18), the Winemiller Excellence Award (2018), and the Trulaske College of Business Miller/Smith Summer Scholar Award (2010-21). Elaine served as President of the Missouri Society of CPAs Mid-Missouri Chapter (2003-04).


Scott McQuillan, Deloitte

Scott McQuillan currently serves as a National Talent Acquisition Leader at Deloitte where has responsibility for leading the US campus recruiting strategy and programs as well as leading the recruiting efforts for the US and US-India Tax practice .  Prior to joining Deloitte over 20 years ago, Scott worked in a variety of roles in higher education including college admissions, academic advising and career services. Scott’s  25+ years of experience has always involved working with college students and assisting with their career exploration and professional development. Scott is the current President-elect of Beta Alpha Psi and also, he serves on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Colleges and Universities (NACE).  Scott is a graduate of Central Michigan University where he earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree.  


Norma Ramirez Montague, Wake Forest University

Norma Ramirez Montague, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Accounting and the Senior Associate Dean of the Wake Forest University School of Business. She is also the Senior Associate Dean of the Master of Science in Management program. She earned her Ph.D. at the University of South Florida, and her BA and Master of Accounting at North Carolina State University. Prior to pursuing her Ph.D., she worked at a public accounting firm and taught accounting at several institutions, including in a correctional facility. She has taught business courses in both English and Spanish as an instructor at a community college. At WFU, she has taught financial accounting, managerial accounting, and auditing courses in the School of Business’s undergraduate business program, Master of Science in Accountancy program, and Master of Science in Management program. Her research focuses on enhancing auditor and investor judgments, as well as developing innovative teaching techniques in accounting courses. Professor Montague has received the American Accounting Association’s award for Innovation in Auditing and Assurance Education (2016), the Issues in Accounting Education’s Best Paper Award (2016), and Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory’s Best Paper Award (2015). At WFU, she has been awarded the T. B. Rose Fellowship in Business for innovation in teaching and the School of Business Spirit Award for displaying good citizenship and inspiring other faculty to high achievement. Her work has been featured on the cover of the Journal of Accountancy, and has been published in Accounting, Organizations and Society, Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory, Issues in Accounting Education, Current Issues in Auditing, CPA Journal, Today’s CPA, and Executives’ Tax & Management Report. She is currently serving in several noteworthy service capacities, including as 2020-2021 President of the Diversity Section of the American Accounting Association, Treasurer of the Federation of Schools of Accountancy, and as a member of the American Accounting Association Diversity Task Force. Outside of work, Professor Montague enjoys spending time with her family, including her husband Archer and sons Cameron and Finn.

Paul Munter is Acting Chief Accountant of the Office of the Chief Accountant (OCA) at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. He joined OCA as Deputy Chief Accountant for International Activities in 2019. Prior to joining the SEC staff he served as professor of accounting at University of Miami and a national office partner for a large audit firm. He earned his PhD in accounting from the University of Colorado, Boulder and his B.S. and M.S. in accounting from Fresno State University.


Tamera Pumphrey, BDO

Tamera Pumphrey is a Campus Recruiter at BDO. She started her career at BDO as an Auditor and after four busy seasons and obtaining her CPA license shifted to campus recruiting. She has been at the firm for over 6 years, in her current role for 3 years and serves our Anchorage, AK; Seattle, WA; Spokane, WA; and San Diego, CA offices. Tamera is also involved nationally with BDO’s Women’s Inclusion initiative, locally with Seattle’s Core Values committee, and is a host on our Students Who Know podcast.

Tamera is an Affiliate Instructor at the University of Washington, teaching a Communications course in the Masters of Professional Accounting program. She also assistant coaches a high school dance team.

Tamera completed her Masters of Business Administration and Bachelor of Business Administration with majors in accounting and human resources and a minor in dance, from Gonzaga University.


Marc Rubin, Miami University of Ohio, Farmer School of Business

Marc Rubin is Professor Emeritus and former Dean and Mitchell P. Rales Chair in Business Leadership of the Farmer School of Business at Miami University. He served as the chair of the accountancy department at FSB from 2003 to 2017. He previously was on the faculty of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He earned a B.S. in accounting from Miami University, a M.A.S. from the University of Illinois and a Ph.D. from the University of Texas and is a CPA and has experience with a national accounting firm. Marc has won teaching awards at both Miami University and the University of North Carolina. He has published in a number of leading journals including The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, and Research in Government & Nonprofit Accounting. Marc also has authored research reports for the Financial Accounting Foundation and Governmental Accounting Standards Board. He is a past president of the American Accounting Association (2018-2019). He previously served in many capacities including as an officer in both the Government and Nonprofit Section and the Accounting Program Leaders Group, chair of the Membership Advisory Committee and co-chair of the 2013 annual meeting. Marc has also served on various committees of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Natasha Stough is the EY Americas Director of Talent Attraction and Acquisition.  EY is a professional services organization and a global leader in assurance, consulting, tax and strategy and transaction services.
Natasha is responsible for driving innovative strategies to attract and hire top talent in the Americas, including addressing the increasingly complex and growing talent needs of EY’s business, and ensuring its recruiting teams have the resources they need to be nimble and effective. She collaborates with EY Global and Americas leaders, as well as the organization’s Talent teams, to align the campus recruiting organization with EY’s overall business strategy and to help EY firms become the most favored professional services employers.
Outside of EY, she is a member of the National Association of Colleges and Employers, most recently serving as the co-chair for planning the 2020 NACE conference.   She’s also served on the Illinois CPA Society’s Diversity Initiatives Taskforce.


Sean Treccia,  KPMG LLP

Sean is a Director on the Talent Acquisition team and is based in Chicago.  In this role, he has direct leadership of three key functions – Events & Relations, Inclusion & Diversity, and Branding & Marketing – for all talent acquisition groups – campus, experienced hire, and senior/executive.  In addition, Sean leads the Global Campus Programs such as the KPMG Ideation Challenge, the Global Internship Program, and the Global Advantage leadership program.  Sean also serves as a national instructor for the KPMG Business School teaching a variety of courses.  He has been with KPMG for over 15 years with previous roles including lead campus recruiter for Chicago, director of campus recruiting for the Midwest region, and national director of campus recruiting for faculty, marketing, and events.  Prior to KPMG, Sean worked in sales for a travel publishing company (OAG), in marketing for PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), and in college recruiting for UPS. Sean received a BS degree from the University of Illinois – Urbana/Champaign and an MBA degree from Northwestern University (Kellogg School of Business).

Miklos A. Vasarhelyi received his Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from UCLA, MBA from MIT, and BS in Economics and Electrical Engineering from the State University of Guanabara and Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro. Professor Vasarhelyi is currently the KPMG Distinguished Professor of Accounting Information Systems and Director of the Rutgers Accounting Research Center (RARC) & Continuous Auditing and Reporting Laboratory (CARLAB) at Rutgers University.  He has published more than 200 journal articles,20 books, and directed over 45 Ph.D. theses. He is the editor of the Artificial Intelligence in Accounting and Auditing series and the Journal of Emerging Technologies in Accounting. 

Professor Vasarhelyi is credited with the original continuous audit application and as the leading researcher in this field.  The CAR Lab’s projects include among others AICPA’s Radar, Siemens, KPMG, P&G, AICPA, CA Technologies, and Itau-Unibanco. Professor Vasarhelyi has been awarded the Outstanding Educator of the year by the AAA in 2014, AICPA distinguished scholar in 2018, and the Wasserman award by ISACA in 2013.
