The Teaching, Learning and Curriculum Section of the American Accounting Association is hosting a Colloquium on the Future-Focused Classroom. This day and a half Colloquium will be held on Friday, October 29, 2021 and Saturday, October 30, 2021  at the Hilton Palacio del Rio. If you cannot join us in person, a virtual option will allow you to participate in select sessions.

The focus of the 2021 Colloquium is the future-focused classroom. The accounting profession exists in a dynamic environment that requires we graduate professionals who are not just technically adept, but also prepared to adapt to changing professional, regulatory, technological, and societal demands. The Colloquium will focus on how we can develop students and ourselves so that we can better prepare our graduates to successfully navigate these demands.

The Colloquium features a choice of teaching track or research track panel discussions, EdTalks, dialogue sessions, workshops and hands-on activities. Attendees come together for joint sessions that include plenary and closing speakers, poster sessions and networking opportunities emphasizing the future-focused classroom. The day and a half event will provide exposure to disruptive forces in education, best practices for online/remote learning, course design, student engagement, academic writing, and other current topics in accounting education.

The Colloquium will be facilitated by faculty speakers collaborating with education experts. The goal of the colloquium is to furnish attendees with professional development and instructional materials ready for immediate use in class or a program of scholarship. Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop.
