President-Elect
Giorgio Gotti
Statement of Interest
My journey with the AAA began during my PhD at the first Doctoral Consortium of the International Accounting Section. This experience connected me with mentors and peers who shaped my career and strengthened my commitment to the global accounting community. Serving the AAA has enabled me to give back to a community that has impacted my professional growth, fueling my passion to contribute to its mission. I've served on the AAA Board and Council, co-chaired the Global Gathering, and presided over the International Accounting Section, gaining valuable insights into AAA governance and a deep understanding of its global reach. During my tenure, we implemented differential membership fees for developing countries and enhanced engagement in the Global Gathering, fostering connections among presidents of accounting academic associations worldwide. As president-elect, I would leverage my experience to strengthen the AAA's reach, foster inclusivity, and promote excellence in accounting research, education, and practice.

Gary A. McGill
Statement of Interest
I joined the AAA as a PhD student and it was one of the most valuable decisions I made. The AAA has provided a professional home, connections with mentors, a source of knowledge, an opportunity for growth, and even facilitated making life-long personal friends. I would be humbled to serve as its president all these years later. I hope I can give back even a fraction of what the AAA has given me. The accounting profession is facing fast-paced change on many dimensions, including application of AI, institutional change in public accounting ownership forms, accounting student pipeline concerns, and potential replacement of graduate accounting education with alternatives pathways to CPA licensing. The AAA must lead the way and not simply react to such changes. I hope to help facilitate the AAA’s role as a deeply engaged partner in all these areas.

Vice President-Finance-Elect
Diane J. Janvrin
Statement of Interest
The AAA has significantly shaped my career, and I am honored to be nominated as VP of Finance. My leadership roles in the AIS section and experience on the AAA Finance Committee equip me to address the AAA’s current opportunities and challenges effectively. I am familiar with the recent financial process changes designed to provide timely information for leadership and members. Additionally, my service on the board and Finance Committee of a local nonprofit, which outsources its accounting functions, has given me insights into similar transitions. This nonprofit, approximately 18 months ahead of the AAA in this process, has navigated comparable challenges. As a scholar, my research with colleagues on the financial close process, published in the Journal of Information Systems and the International Journal of Accounting Information Systems provides further expertise in navigating complete financial operations. I am committed to contributing to AAA’s financial success and strategic goals.

Keith L. Jones
Statement of Interest
The AAA has been instrumental in my career, starting with the doctoral consortiums where I met future coauthors, mentors, and friends. It has provided numerous opportunities to showcase my research and connect with wonderful colleagues. I have tried to give back to the AAA through service in various roles including President and Treasurer of the Auditing Section as well as my recent membership on the AAA Finance Committee. Along the way, I encountered many challenges that taught me a lot about AAA finances and the quality of its staff and members. I was Treasurer of the Auditing Section when the AAA transitioned to a new accounting platform, and I was President of the Auditing Section during Covid. Through these challenges, I have seen the AAA adapt and come back stronger than ever. I would be honored to continue this legacy of improvement as VP Finance – Elect.

Vice President-Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
Mark C. Dawkins
Statement of Interest
From 2004-2008, I served as the inaugural Director of DEI in the Terry College of Business at UGA (the first college at UGA to appoint a DEI officer). When I joined UNF as Dean of the Coggin College of Business in 2015, I created a Director of DEI position in the college, and this was the first college-level DEI position at UNF. To me, the term DEI is sometimes misunderstood since whoever serves the AAA in this role needs to welcome and serve many constituents: a) faculty at 2-year and 4-year colleges, b) faculty at teaching, balanced, and research schools, c) international faculty, and d) diverse faculty (faculty of color, LGBTQIA faculty, etc.). This role is about how the AAA and its members support each other and work together to advance members’ careers, and how the AAA invites and encourages members to participate in AAA programs, activities, meetings, volunteer positions, etc.

Mark C. Dawkins is Professor of Accounting and former Dean in the Coggin College of Business at the University of North Florida. He served as President of the American Accounting Association (AAA) in 2022-2023. He received his PhD in Accounting from Florida State University, MBA and MACC degrees from the University of Florida, and a BS in Management from Georgia Tech. Professor Dawkins’s recent research focuses on declining enrollments in accounting, connecting academic research to business practice, evaluating alternative earnings metrics, and assessing faculty publications. He is a member of the AAA, AICPA, FICPA, IMA, and the PhD Project.

Statement of Interest
I am honored to be nominated for the Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and I am prepared and willing to serve in this role, if elected. Given the current Anti-DEI climate, this role has become even more significant in advancing the goals of the Board of Directors of the AAA and the organization as whole. I believe I am positioned and have the experience needed to serve in this role. As an integral part of my current faculty role, I have served as Co-Chair of the DEI Committee. I developed and facilitated various activities, seminars, workshops, for faculty and students, which advanced the concepts of diversity, equity, and inclusivity in the classroom, teaching, and scholarship. Moreover, I have worked closely with the current VP of DEI, Norma Montague, on various AAA activities, including the Inclusive Classroom Committee where we developed and produced the video contents, which are currently available as a course.

Director-Focusing on Academic/Practitioner Interaction
Julie A. Peters
Statement of Interest
I am honored to accept the nomination for the Director-Focusing on Academic/Practitioner Interaction position on the Board of Directors. Since joining the AAA in 2007, I have built relationships with many amazing members and have learned so much about the complexities, rewards and challenges in academia. I have developed a lot of knowledge about AAA through my active participation with multiple sections, advisory boards and committees. I am also deeply integrated in various efforts to build the talent pipeline for the accounting profession. I consistently look for opportunities to provide resources to support academics such as providing access to technology training. As technology and ways of working continue to evolve, it will be critical for practitioners and academics to stay closely connected to focus on the development of skills for future business professionals. Statement of Interest
I am honored to be considered for the position of Director-Focusing on Academic/Practitioner Interaction. It is my chosen mission, for the rest of my career, to help to foster an environment of mutual respect and cooperation between academics, practitioners and regulators. All of our efforts, individually or collectively, are undertaken to ensure that Quality -,which can be manifested in the continued evolution of GAAP, the development or the execution of GAAS or refinement f regulatory regimes - pervades the profession. My hope is that I can use this position to better establish effective and continual dialogue amongst all parties by attempting to institute long-term protocols that allow for (i) transparency around what matters are currently relevant; (ii) better access to people and data to address those relevant matters; and (iii) wide and unbiased distribution of timely research.
