Time: 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Field of Study: Accounting

Credit Hours: 3.0
Intended Audience: Accounting Professors
Learning Objectives: The profuseness of fraud, including financial reporting fraud, is widely noted, but auditors have had little success either in finding it in current audit engagements, or in developing more effective tools to improve their future performance. This session will address some less-widely recognized dimensions of the problem, including the existence of "dark triad" personalities making traditional audit risk assessments more challenging, and will consider a number of more sophisticated analytical and less rigorous fraud detection tools that are ready to deploy in real-world audits, which may serve as a springboard for further research and development by the academic community.
