The Accounting Information Systems Section of the American Accounting Association is conducting an AIS Bootcamp, May 22-23 at the PricewaterhouseCoopers, Minneapolis, Minnesota Office. The Bootcamp will begin on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 8:00 a.m. and conclude on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 1:30 p.m.

Purpose
The accounting profession is positioned to change beyond recognition over the next decade. Technology and the implications of its use are at the core of the change. This has led professional organizations and college accreditation agencies to call for more technology in the accounting curriculum, specifically data analytics.

The AAA AIS section is proud to offer a “Incorporating Data Analytics Into Accounting Curriculum” Bootcamp, May 22-23, at the PwC office in Minneapolis, MN. This day and a half event will host a plethora of topics and outstanding national practitioner and academic speakers and panelists. The purpose of the event is to provide hands-on exposure to data analytics across the core accounting pedagogy and provide a discussion of current practices and issues relevant to the profession. The sessions covered at the bootcamp will include AIS, Audit, Financial, Managerial and Tax. PwC will provide a practitioner to work with faculty in each topic area to develop teaching materials. Most Bootcamp sessions will include hands-on instruction facilitated by faculty, so participants are encourage to bring a laptop. The goal will be to provide attendees with data analytics discussion points and activity materials to take back for immediate use in class.

Audience
The event is designed for both faculty who do not have data analytics teaching/work experience, but will be teaching data analytics content in their courses, and also faculty members who currently teach data analytics content, but are looking to expand their teaching materials and/or bring back ideas for department-wide integration based on current and emerging topics in data analytics.
