    Academy of Accounting Historians Section Online Sessions for All AAA Members!

    The Academy of Accounting Historians (AAH) sponsor a  series of online sessions (Brownbag webinars) to provide researchers feedback on their historical and longitudinal papers. These sessions have been done for the past five years.
     

    Next Brownbag Session:
    February 20, 2026, 10am, Eastern

    Presenter: Diane Roberts (University of San Francisco)
    Paper being Presented: Beyond New York: CPA Market Characteristics and Career Experience in 1920 Philadelphia and Chicago

    This session on February 20 will be held 10 am EST (Toronto/New York) time and conclude at 11:15 am. There is no charge for this and other AAH sessions for AAA and AAH members.

    The purpose of these Brownbag sessions is to provide constructive feedback with two blind reviewers and a discussant to assist authors in getting their papers published in high quality journals. Recently, the May 2025 issue of TAR had a paper that was presented at an earlier AAH brownbag session. A paper presented at a spring 2024 AAH brownbag session was accepted for publication in AAAJ.

    On August 15, 1973, at the Faculty of Business Administration Building at Université Laval in Quebec, Canada, those academicians interested in accounting history met during the annual meeting of the AAA and formed The Academy of Accounting Historians.     The First 50 Years of the Academy of Accounting Historians

    Trace the evolution of The Academy of Accounting Historians in a three part series of papers from its founding in 1973 through the 50th Anniversary in 2023. The primary purpose of this series is to provide information about The Academy of Accounting Historians, the people who have contributed to its establishment and success, and to assist in planning our future role.     The 16th World Congress of Accounting Historians (WCAH)

    The 16th World Congress of Accounting Historians (WCAH), the highest-level international academic conference in the field of accounting history was held on June 25-June 27, 2024 at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law. The conference was co-organized by Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and Finance and was a great success! Themed " Accounting in the History of Science, Technology and Human Civilization" the conference provided a high-quality international academic exchange platform for experts and scholars from all over the world to present and discuss research on all topics, methodologies, and perspectives in the field of accounting history. 

    It was a great honor to have Professor Guo Daoyang, an internationally renowned expert in accounting history and the author of General Accounting History of China, and Professor Massimo Sargiacomo, former President of the Academy of Accounting Historians were opening plenary speakers.

    Accounting Historians Notebook

    The Editor of The Accounting Historians Notebook is looking for news items, accounting history call for papers,and article submissions suitable for publication within the Notebook.

    Articles for consideration should be of broad interest to Academy members. Articles might be considered unlikely to be published in established accounting journals because of topic or short length. Possible topics might include: accounting history research techniques, equipment and software useful to history research, and descriptions of accounting archives and large accounting resource collections.

    AAH Section Online Seminars

    For the 2024-2025 academic year, the Academy of Accounting Historians (AAH) will  sponsor a  series of online sessions (Brownbag webinars) to provide researchers feedback on their historical and longitudinal papers. These sessions have been done for the past five years.

    The format will be:

    • Six Friday Brownbag Sessions, one presenter, sessions each from 10 am to 11:15 am Eastern,
