Workshop 2: "Integrating Python in AIS: Transforming Audit, Finance, and Data Analysis"
Presenter: Karina Kasztelnik, Tennessee State University

Description: This is an exclusive course called "Python Essentials: A 3-Hour Intensive Workshop for AIS Instructors," tailored to empower instructors in the field of Artificial Intelligence Systems (AIS) with the fundamental knowledge and skills in Python programming. With the world increasingly moving towards automation and intelligent systems, Python's role in driving these advancements has become more significant than ever. This workshop is designed to provide AIS instructors with a comprehensive introduction to Python, ensuring they are well-equipped to integrate this powerful tool into their teaching and research endeavors.
During this intensive 3-hour session, participants will embark on a journey through the core aspects of Python, from its basic syntax to its application in real-world AIS scenarios. The goal is not only to familiarize instructors with Python as a programming language, but also to demonstrate its practical utility in the development and implementation of artificial intelligence and machine learning models. By the end of this workshop, participants will have gained a solid foundation in Python, enabling them to confidently incorporate this language into their curriculum and research projects, thereby enhancing the learning experience of their students and the impact of their work in the field of AIS.

This workshop is structured to cater to a range of expertise levels, from beginners to more experienced programmers. The workshop aims to ensure that each participant leaves with a clear understanding of Python's syntax, key programming concepts, and its applications in AIS. Participants will learn how to utilize Python's versatile libraries and frameworks that are pivotal in the field of AIS, including libraries like NumPy for numerical computations, Pandas for data manipulation, and Matplotlib for data visualization. These tools are essential for handling and interpreting the large datasets encountered in AI and machine learning projects.

Additionally, participants will learn about more advanced topics such as machine learning with Python, including an introduction to Scikit-learn, a powerful tool for implementing machine learning algorithms. This segment is designed to give participants a taste of how Python can be used to develop, train, and test AI models, providing a gateway to more complex AIS applications.

Throughout the workshop, participants will engage in practical exercises and mini projects, applying what they have learned in real-time. This hands-on approach ensures that they gain practical experience and confidence in using Python for various AIS tasks. The workshop emphasizes learning by doing, which is key, especially in a field as dynamic and practical as AIS.

In addition to the technical skills, this workshop will also focus on effective methods for teaching Python in the context of AIS. The course recognizes the crucial role of instructors in shaping the future of their students, and therefore provides tips and strategies on curriculum development, engaging teaching methodologies, and how to inspire students to explore Python and AIS more deeply.

By the end of this workshop, participants will have a strong foundation in Python, as well as the tools and confidence to teach Python effectively to their students. They will leave with a comprehensive set of resources, including lecture notes, example codes, and additional reading materials to support them in their ongoing journey in both learning and teaching Python in the field of AIS.

This course aims to enhance the skills of instructors, inspire their students, and make a significant impact in the ever-evolving world of artificial intelligence and systems technology. Join us in unlocking the potential of Python and paving the way for future innovations in AIS.

Workshop Agenda

Introduction to Python in AIS
This session will provide an overview of Python's role in Artificial Intelligence Systems (AIS), its significance in modern audit and financial analysis, and the advantages it has over traditional tools in AIS.

Automation in Internal and External Audit Processes
In this session, participants will learn about the audit process and its potential for automation. They will engage in a hands-on experience building a basic audit automation script in Python and witness a real-time application demonstrating the automation of data collection and analysis.
