Welcome to the 2024 International Accounting Section’s 20th Annual PhD/New Faculty Consortium
Application is closed
The International Accounting Section (IAS) PhD/New Faculty Consortium, partially funded by the KPMG Foundation, will be held on January 25, 2024, at the Atlanta Marriott Buckhead Hotel & Conference Center in Atlanta, Georgia. The program will consist of invited talks from senior faculty and panel sessions so you are encouraged to apply even if you do not have research projects underway. Note that consortium attendees who wish to present their own research should submit to the 2024 International Accounting Section Midyear Meeting following the regular submission process.
The consortium will be held on Thursday, January 25 from 9 am – 5 pm. Consortium participants are required to attend the 2024 International Accounting Section Midyear Meeting that runs from Friday morning, January 26 through Saturday afternoon, January 27.
Interested participants are encouraged to complete the application form below by Tuesday, November 7, 2023. Capacity is limited so please submit your application as soon as possible. You will receive a decision email by Monday, November 20, 2023.
Attendance is subject to approval by the consortium organizers. PhD students and new faculty within 3 years of graduation are encouraged to apply.
Note that you must be an American Accounting Association (AAA) member and a member of the International Accounting Section (IAS) to apply to attend the consortium. PhD students and new faculty who have not yet joined the AAA and IAS may purchase a membership at: https://aaahq.org/Membership. Special rates are available for PhD students. If you are a AAA member but not an IAS member, you can join the IAS at: https://aaahq.org/Membership. Be sure to do this before applying to the consortium because you will need your AAA Member Number to complete the consortium application form.
Up to 20 accepted PhD students will have all meeting fees waived (inclusive of the 2024 International Accounting Section Midyear Meeting fee) and the IAS will cover lodging at the conference hotel for one night (either Wednesday or Thursday night) at the rate of $189 per night plus taxes and fees. Additional PhD students who are accepted to attend the consortium will be required to pay for their own lodging and the Midyear Meeting fee but will have consortium fees waived. Hotel accommodations will be reimbursed by AAA AFTER the meeting, provided that the student attends the consortium and full Midyear Meeting.
Accepted new faculty will have consortium fees waived but will be required to pay for their own lodging as well as the Midyear Meeting fee.
Consortium attendees should make their hotel reservations directly with the hotel and will need to provide a credit card number at the time of booking. The deadline for hotel reservations is January 2, 2024 but we cannot guarantee that additional rooms will be available once our block of rooms is sold out, even if the block is sold out before the deadline. If a participant is unable to attend the consortium and Midyear Meeting, they must cancel the hotel reservation in advance to avoid a cancellation penalty.
Travel to and from the meeting is not sponsored by the IAS.
