Before joining the faculty at Stanford in 1995, Professor Barth was an associate professor at Harvard Business School and an audit partner at Arthur Andersen & Co. Professor Barth served as the senior editor of The Accounting Review, the accounting department editor of Management Science and co-editor of the Journal of Financial Reporting. She has won several notable AAA research awards for her high-impact research. She has close to 40,000 Google Scholar citations and her article titled “International Accounting Standards and Accounting Quality” has generated over 5,000 citations. Professor Barth was president of the AAA during 2013-14, a founding board member from 2001 to 2008 and the academic advisor of the International Accounting Standards Board from 2009 to 2011. She received the IAS Outstanding International Accounting Educator Award in 2008.

The Lifetime Contribution to International Accounting Literature award will be presented to Professor Barth at the 2024 IAS Midyear Meeting lunch on Saturday, January 27, 2024. Please join us to celebrate her pioneering work in international accounting and continuing impact on the IAS community. Mr. Madon joined IFAC in 2019, where he is Director - Sustainability, Policy & Regulatory Affairs. He is responsible for developing and coordinating IFAC’s sustainability policy and advocacy activities in addition to conducting research, policy development, and engagement with respect to a range of topics and stakeholders, including industry organizations, regulators, public authorities, and institutional investors. Mr. Madon's areas of expertise include sustainability/ESG, corporate reporting, financial audit quality/reform, sustainability assurance, ethics, investor protection, financial market regulation, and credit markets. Most recently, he has focused on the development of a global reporting system (including assurance) for sustainability/ESG information. Prior to IFAC, Mr. Madon represented the IFRS Foundation in the U.S. for nearly a decade, during which he focused on building institutional investor relationships, funding-raising, and the adoption of IFRS Standards by U.S. publicly traded companies. Prior to his public policy work, Mr. Madon spent twenty-five years in financial services, most recently as a Managing Director at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein. He holds a Masters in Public Administration-MC from the Harvard Kennedy School, an MBA in Finance from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and a BS in Management-Accounting from Purdue University Northwest.

Paul joined OCA as Deputy Chief Accountant for International Activities in 2019. Prior to joining the SEC staff he served as professor of accounting at University of Miami and a national office partner for KPMG. He earned his PhD in accounting from the University of Colorado, Boulder and his B.S. and M.S. in accounting from Fresno State University. He is a CPA in Colorado, New York, and Florida.
