Mission and Vision
The purpose of the Accounting Information Systems Section is to further the theory, education, and practice of information systems. To achieve this goal, the Section (1) sponsors a mid-year meeting and provides other forums for presentation and discussion of theoretical, educational, and practice developments; (2) publishes the Journal of Information Systems and a newsletter for Section members; and (3) organizes committees to work on special topics.

If you have an interest in understanding the implications of technology for accounting and auditing, you owe it to yourself to join the AIS section of the American Accounting Association. The mission of the AIS section is to create and disseminate knowledge of accounting information systems and all aspects of information technologies as they relate to accounting and auditing by promoting excellence in research, teaching, and practice. We achieve this mission through meetings, outreach, member support, encouragement of teaching in AIS, and the publication of the key journal in the field, the Journal of Information Systems.
Our Joint 2026 Midyear Meeting
February 5-7, 2026 | Brigham Young University
The 2026 Joint Midyear Meeting of the Accounting Information Systems (AIS) and Strategic and Emerging Technologies (SET) Sections was held on Thursday, February 5 through Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Brigham Young University Marriott College of Business in Provo, Utah.
We thank all participants who helped make the meeting a huge success! We hope that you will join us next year.

Monograph: Researching Accounting as an Information Systems Discipline
Researching Accounting as an Information Systems Discipline is the culmination of over two years of work by the Information Systems Section. The AIS research monograph is intended to fulfill the needs of three primary sets of stakeholders in the IS section. The first objective is to provide a source book for use in AIS doctoral seminars. This objective includes a desire to provide a valuable synthesis of the literature to facilitate broad coverage of the AIS domain within the short confines of semester- or quarter-length courses and to motivate doctoral students to pursue studies in AIS research.
