The Conference on Teaching and Learning in Accounting (CTLA):
CTLA is designed for new and experienced faculty looking for opportunities to refine their teaching talents and perfect their craft in teaching accounting. It is held Saturday and Sunday prior to the opening of the Annual Meeting. More complete information is on the registration page.

The dress code for the meeting is business casual.

If you would like to make additions to an Annual Meeting Registration that has already been processed, please complete the form listed on the registration page.
Host Program:
Consider signing up for the Host Program. First time attendees may sign up for the Host Program to meet with an experienced member at the meeting. Look for information listed under Volunteer Opportunities for the option to sign up.
Pre-Conference Workshops and Symposia:
Any registrant is welcome to sign up for optional workshops and symposia held Friday, Saturday, and Sunday prior to the start of the Annual Meeting. You may register for these at the time of registration.
The App:
All registrants will receive an email prior to the meeting with information on the app for the meeting. It will have maps as well as speakers and sessions listed to assist you in planning the sessions and events you want to attend.
At the Meeting:
Pick up your registration material at the AAA registration desk in the Gaylord National Harbor resort
Plenary Sessions:
Plenary sessions are the opening events for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday mornings of the Annual Meeting.
Effective Learning Strategy (ELS) Session:
Effective Learning Strategy Sessions showcase ideas, research, strategies, and education innovations that support learning in accounting. The presenters are available to answer questions about their research and often have hand-outs available. ELS sessions are offered at different times throughout the conference with different presenters at each session.
Emerging and Innovative Research Sessions:
This session is intended to highlight promising emerging and innovative research ideas that are in the early stages of development. The presenters are available to answer questions about their research and often have hand-outs available.
Concurrent Sessions:
Concurrent sessions are scheduled Monday through Wednesday in the morning, early afternoon, and late afternoon time slots. Due to the size of the Annual Meeting, up to 50 different sessions could be offered concurrently. Registrants are encouraged to review the online program, or the program they receive with their registration materials, or use the app to plan and decide which sessions they would like to attend each day.
There are three formats for concurrent sessions:
- Panels -Moderated discussions involving experts in a particular area of specialty
- Traditional Paper Presentations —three papers are presented, with discussants providing feedback to the authors.
- Paper Dialogue Sessions — Up to five papers are presented, with feedback provided by the audience.
Early Bird Reception and Welcome Reception:
Make plans to attend the Early Bird Reception Sunday evening in the Exhibit Hall, and the Welcome Reception on Monday evening. Plan on attending for a great networking opportunity. Badge required.
CPE credit for attending this meeting:
Registrants may earn NASBA-certified credit hours by attending pre-conference workshops, symposia, or any of the sessions scheduled throughout the meeting. The sign-in and sign-out sheets are located in the back of each session room. The form to complete to obtain your CPE credit will be posted on the Annual Meeting registration page.
Certificates of Attendance or Presentation:
Stop by the Member Services Booth near registration to arrange for certificates of attendance or presentation to be printed or emailed to you.
Career Fair:
The Career Fair at the Annual Meeting will be held Sunday, August 5 from 4:30pm to 7:00pm and is open to all registered attendees.
Career Center:
The Career Center at the Annual Meeting is the AAA's largest recruiting event, where applicants and institutions from across the world can network and explore opportunities.
Service Project:
The AAA is partnering again with ShelterBox this year. ShelterBox provides emergency shelter and lifesaving equipment to survivors of a disaster or humanitarian crisis worldwide. Please visit the display in the Exhibit Hall.
The Exhibit Hall:
Meeting attendees enjoy the opportunity to peruse our nearly 40 exhibit booths and speak with representatives from publishing companies, software companies, and leading industry organizations and associations.
