AAA 2022 Run/Walk Group
Greetings!
AAA is back live for its 2022 Annual Meeting and so is the Annual Meeting Run & Walk Group.
If you want to run or walk outside during the annual meeting and blow off the treadmills, a running/walking group is being planned so that you can be assured of having other AAA people to accompany you, regardless of your pace.
Please show up by 5:30 a.m. PDT outside the front entrance of the Manchester Grand Hyatt hotel main entrance any morning from Sunday, July 31st through Wednesday, August 3rd during the Annual Meeting if you wish to participate. The “shove off” time is 5:45 a.m. PT, so that people can get back and attend meeting activities.
The area around the Grand Hyatt offers excellent options. Below are links to some suggested routes close to the hotels. Whatever your goal, we have others there who share that goal!
- Distance: 3.15 miles: San Diego Run 3.15 miles
- Distance: 5 miles: San Diego Run 5 miles
- Distance: 8.13 miles: San Diego Run 8.13 miles
- Distance: 10 miles: San Diego Run 10 miles
In addition, there is Gaslamp 5K/10K race on Sunday, July 31st, starting at the Convention Center, which is next door to the AAA Annual Meeting hotels. Please click on the link to register: https://www.gaslamprun.com/. The Gas Lamp district in San Diego is beautiful. If there is enough interest, we will form an informal AAA team! Just let one of us know by July 15 so that we can set that up.
The run and walk group is open to all attendees, their family members and friends. Although the AAA supports this effort enthusiastically, it is an informal group and hence, no registration… just show up and have fun while mitigating the damage that travel can inflict on your normal fitness routine. You may meet some colleagues that you wouldn’t have met otherwise!
Get up, get out and enjoy the best exercise weather in the U.S…San Diego!
If you would like to participate, please email Keith Jones of the University of North Alabama at kjones5@una.edu, Melissa Samuelson of Arizona State University at melissa.samuelson@asu.edu, or Lisa Slavinski of the AAA at lisa.slavinski@aaa.org.
Happy running and walking,
Keith and Lisa
