AIS NEW SCHOLARS CONSORTIUM APPLICATION DEADLINE: Monday, October 24, 2022, 11:59 PM Eastern.

Welcome to the 2023 AIS New Scholars Consortium!

The Accounting Information Systems New Scholars Consortium will be held jointly at the 2023 Joint Midyear Meeting of the AIS, SET and International Sections from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm on Thursday, January 26, 2023, in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Sahara Las Vegas.

The AIS New Scholars Consortium is open to doctoral students and the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year AIS assistant professors who are members of the AAA AIS or SET Sections.

** If you have not yet joined the AAA and AIS or SET Section as a student member, you may do so at: http://aaahq.org/Membership/Doctoral-Students

Be sure to do this before applying to the Consortium because you will need your AAA Member number to complete the application.

PhD students registered for the Consortium may also attend the Midyear meeting.

Note: Seating for the New Scholars Consortium is limited. Applicants will receive a decision by November 14, 2022.  If you have any questions about the Consortium, please contact the Consortium Chair, Vern Richardson, vjricha@uark.edu.

Registration/Hotel Information

Registration will be waived for up to 20 PhD/Masters students for the consortium (inclusive of the 2023 AIS/SET/IAS Midyear Meeting fee). The AIS will cover lodging at the conference hotel for two nights (Wednesday and Thursday night) at the rate of $72 per night plus taxes and fees for the first 15 students who apply and get accepted. Hotel accommodations will be reimbursed AFTER the meeting, provided that the student attends the full consortium and Midyear Meeting. Note: All names of the individuals who stayed in the room need to be on the room folio for reimbursement.

Consortium attendees should make their reservations directly with the hotel and will need to provide a credit card number to the hotel. The deadline for hotel reservations is January 3, 2022 but we cannot guarantee that additional rooms will be available once our block of rooms is sold out, even if the block is sold out before the deadline.

After the application deadline, Vern Richardson will review those who applied and will notify the 30 accepted participants about their participation and will email the first 15 students who applied and are accepted about the hotel nights.

If a participant is unable to attend the meeting, they must cancel notify Vern Richardson immediately and cancel their hotel reservation in advance to avoid a cancellation penalty. Vernon will then let the next student who applied and was accepted know that they will be reimbursed for two hotel nights at the Conference rate.

If a participant is sharing a room with another participant, please notify the Consortium Chair, Vern Richardson, vjricha@uark.edu.
