Welcome to the 2023 International Accounting Section’s 19th Annual PhD Student/New Faculty Consortium
The International Accounting Section (IAS) PhD Student/New Faculty Consortium, partially funded by the KPMG Foundation, will be held on January 26, 2023 at the Sahara Las Vegas in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The consortium will be on Thursday, January 26 from 8:30 am – 5:30 pm. Consortium participants are required to attend the 2023 AIS/SET/IAS Midyear Meeting that runs from 8:00 am on Friday, January 27 through Saturday, January 28.
Interested participants are encouraged to complete the application form below by Monday, October 24, 2022 Monday, November 21, 2022. Capacity is limited so please submit your application as soon as possible. You will receive a decision email by December 1, 2022.
Attendance is subject to approval by the consortium organizers. Doctoral students who have not attended an IAS consortium previously will be given first priority. New faculty within 3 years of graduation are also encouraged to apply.
Note that you must be an American Accounting Association (AAA) member and a member of the International Accounting Section (IAS) to apply to attend the consortium. Doctoral students and new faculty who have not yet joined the AAA and IAS may purchase a student membership at: https://aaahq.org/Membership. If you are a AAA member but not an IAS member, you can join the IAS at: https://aaahq.org/Membership. Be sure to do this before applying to the consortium because you will need your AAA Member Number to complete the application form.
Hotel Information
Up to 20 accepted doctoral students will have all meeting fees waived (inclusive of the 2023 AIS/SET/IAS Midyear Meeting fee) and the IAS will cover lodging at the conference hotel for one night (either Wednesday or Thursday night) at the rate of $72 per night plus taxes and fees. Additional doctoral students will be required to pay for lodging as well as the Midyear Meeting fee but will have consortium fees waived. Hotel accommodations will be reimbursed AFTER the meeting, provided that the student attends the consortium and full Midyear Meeting.
Accepted new faculty will have consortium fees waived but will be required to pay the Midyear Meeting fee and for their own lodging.
Consortium attendees should make their reservations directly with the hotel and will need to provide a credit card number at the time of booking. The deadline for hotel reservations is January 3, 2022 but we cannot guarantee that additional rooms will be available once our block of rooms is sold out, even if the block is sold out before the deadline. If a participant is unable to attend the meeting, they must cancel the hotel reservation in advance to avoid a cancellation penalty.
Travel to and from the meeting is not sponsored by the IAS.
