I am excited to serve as your Section President and to continue the strong tradition of scholarship and community that makes FARS such a special home within the AAA. I would like to thank John Jiang for his thoughtful leadership this past year. Under his guidance, the section had a successful year filled with high-quality research presentations, thoughtful discussions, and meaningful connections. The Annual Meeting last month was also a great success, with 475 submissions. I am grateful to all of you who contributed by presenting, reviewing, moderating, or attending. Looking ahead, I am pleased to share that our 2025–2026 committees are already staffed and ready to get to work. Membership in the FAR Section facilitates access to thought leadership, conferences, and professional growth opportunities. The following are notable examples: The FAR Section publishes a premier journal dedicated to research on the reporting of financial accounting information: Journal of Financial Reporting. The annual FARS mid-year meeting includes a Doctoral Consortium, CPE sessions, research sessions, panels, and opportunities to volunteer and network. We recognize member contributions through awards such as the Outstanding Dissertation Award; the Outstanding Paper Award; and the Lifetime Achievement Award. We acknowledge the importance of our discipline's relationship with practice. Our Integrating Research and Practice Committee is launching several initiatives to help spread the awareness of FAR research and to engage with practitioners. We value collegiality and have a long history of welcoming and supporting the development of new section members, particularly new scholars and educators.
