Government and Nonprofit Section Midyear Meeting Travel Grants

The GNP Section sponsors $1000 travel grants for the midyear GNP section meeting. The grants are intended to assist doctoral students interested in GNP research by defraying a portion of the costs of attending these meetings and to allow doctoral students interested in GNP topics to interact with GNP Section members.

In return for the grant, recipients will be expected to attend GNP workshops (at no cost, of course) where they will be introduced to Section members that have similar teaching and research interests.

Applicants should send a letter which describes their interest in governmental and nonprofit accounting teaching and research and provides support on why they feel they should receive the grant. Please include an e-mail address and phone number.
The deadlines for travel grant submissions is December 15.

Applicants generally will only be funded one time.
Please email your letter of application to:

President's Letter

Dear GNP Section Members,

I am honored to serve as your President for the 2019-2020 year. The GNP (Government and Nonprofit) Section has been my academic home for the past thirteen years and I have had the privilege to work with incredible colleagues that have fostered my development as an academic. My goal as your Section President is to continue the strong work of past GNP leadership teams and continue strengthening the Section. I want to specifically thank Tammy Waymire for her outstanding leadership as last year’s Section President.

GASB Gil Crain Grant

GASB Gil Crain Memorial Research Grant

Since its formation in 1984, the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) has encouraged academics and other researchers to conduct studies that would be relevant to the GASB’s standards-setting activities. Over the past 30 years, such research efforts have resulted in publishing their research in research briefs, journal articles, and occasionally in GASB research reports.
