State boards of accountancy and other credentialing organizations maintain specific CPE policies and have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Each meeting attendee is responsible for staying current on the CPE policies of his/her credentialing bodies.
Smarter Teaching, Smarter Learning: Using AI to Transform Accounting Education
Artificial intelligence is transforming how accounting educators design learning experiences and prepare students for the profession’s evolving demands. This session showcases a variety of AI tools that can help faculty streamline course preparation and enrich student engagement. Participants will see practical demonstrations of using AI to create customized content, from regionally focused cases and interactive simulations to podcasts, explainer videos, and data-driven assignments. The session also explores how AI can evaluate corporate communications and sustainability disclosures, helping students develop analytical, ethical, and professional judgment skills. Attendees will leave with strategies to responsibly and creatively integrate AI into accounting education—enhancing both teaching efficiency and student learning outcomes.
Learning Objective(s): 1. Identify emerging AI tools that can increase teaching efficiency and instructional quality in accounting courses. 2. Describe how AI can enhance student engagement, feedback, and skill development aligned with career readiness competencies. 3. Evaluate opportunities and ethical boundaries for incorporating AI into course design, assessment, and research. 4. Develop an initial strategy or classroom activity that integrates AI responsibly into accounting education.
