How Academics Can Impact Practice and Regulation: The Experiences of an IPA Fellow

Aleksandra “Ally” B. Zimmerman, Ph.D., CPA (OH), CMA, is an IPA Fellow in the Office of the Chief Accountant at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. As part of her SEC Fellowship work, she has interacted with various U.S. and international accounting and auditing standard-setters and regulators and supported rulemaking and standard-setting. She also previously served as a Senior Economic Research Fellow at the U.S. Public Company Accounting Oversight Board. Ally will draw on her fellowship experiences to provide research ideas and actionable insights into how academics can impact practice, regulation, and standard-setting.
