Call for Submissions

The 2019 Management Accounting Section Meeting will be held at the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort in Fort Lauderdale, FL on Friday and Saturday, January 4-5, 2019, with an evening reception on Thursday, January 3. The IMA Doctoral Colloquium will be held on Thursday, January 3, with an evening reception on Wednesday, January 2. The Teaching Symposium will be held on Saturday, January 5.

We have a fantastic conference planned, with the opening plenary given by Dr. Jeffrey Wooldridge, University Distinguished Professor of Economics at Michigan State University. Professor Wooldridge has won numerous research and teaching awards for his work in the area of applied econometrics. He is also the author of a leading textbook on the analysis of cross section and panel data (http://econ.msu.edu/faculty/wooldridge).

The deadline for submission of research papers for the conference is Friday, August 17, 2018 (midnight EDT). Manuscripts must be submitted through the SSRN conference management system by clicking HERE. The selection of manuscripts for the conference will be announced by October 12, 2018. We encourage submissions of papers from all areas of management accounting research including all paradigms and theoretical foundations (such as e.g. economics, psychology, sociology) and all research methods (such as e.g. analytical, archival, case-based, experimental, survey). We also encourage submission of early working papers, particularly by junior faculty members from all countries.

We will also be hosting the tenth annual Journal of Management Accounting Research (JMAR) Forum during this meeting, in which select JMAR submissions will be featured in a plenary session and will be published in the Fall 2019 issue of JMAR. If you would like your paper to be considered for the JMAR Forum, in addition to submitting your paper to the MAS Midyear Meeting, you should submit your paper by the August 17, 2018 deadline to JMAR following the regular submission procedures HERE. Please include in your cover letter an indication that you would like your paper to be considered for the JMAR Forum. The standard review procedures for JMAR will apply.

We will also be hosting the MAS Teaching Symposium during the midyear meeting. The Teaching Symposium includes a series of education-focused sessions designed to complement the meeting’s research-focused concurrent sessions. All conference participants are registered for both the research and teaching sessions and are encouraged to attend any and all sessions that they find interesting.

We rely on volunteer reviewers and discussants to put on a successful conference. Please consider volunteering HERE.

Michal Matejka and Matthias Mahlendorf
