Natalie T. Churyk, Ph.D., CPA is the William F. Doyle Endowed Professor of Accountancy at Northern Illinois University (NIU) and the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Accounting Education. She joined NIU in 2001 after her doctoral studies and now mostly teaches at the graduate level. Besides her Editor-in-Chief role, significant service includes: editorial review board member of the Journal of Forensic & Investigative Accounting; President, AAA GIWB Section (2020 – 2021); President-Elect, AAA GIWB Section (2019 – 2020); AAA Council (2016 – 2019); President, AAA TLC Section (2016 - 2018); Vice-President, AAA TLC Section (2014 – 2016); Co-President of the AAA Midwest Region (prior acting President and Vice president) (2013 - 2015); Treasurer of AAA TLC (2009 – 2013); and various other appointments. Professor Churyk has received research grants from PricewaterhouseCoopers, the Institute of Management Accountants, and her university. She has also been awarded multiple research, teaching innovation and service awards. Her most recent honor (2021) includes the TLC Section Hall of Honor Award sponsored by KPMG Foundation. Professor Churyk’s research contributes to topics in financial reporting, fraud/ethics, education, and auditing. She has amassed over 50 publications in academic and professional journals such as: Journal of Business Research, Issues in Accounting Education, Journal of Accounting Education, Journal of Forensic Accounting Research, Strategic Finance, CPA Journal, Journal of Accountancy, Journal of Forensic and Investigative Accounting, Advances in Accounting Education, Global Perspectives on Accounting Education, and Advances in Accounting Behavioral Research. She is a co-author on three textbooks published by John Wiley & Sons: Accounting and Auditing Research: Tools and Strategies, Mastering the FASB’s Codification and eIFRS: A Case Approach, and Accounting & Auditing Research and Databases: Practitioner’s Desk Reference. 


Alessandro Ghio is an Assistant Professor in Accounting at Laval University (Canada). They hold a Ph.D. in financial accounting from ESSEC Business School and a Ph.D. in management from the University of Pisa. Their research focuses on issues surrounding i) the sociology of the accounting profession, in particular diversity (i.e., LGBTQI+, women, age) and ii) corporate social media communication. Alessandro’s work appears in journals such as: Accounting and Business Research, Accounting Forum, Issues in Accounting Education, Journal of Business Ethics, and Journal of International Accounting Research. They also serve as an Associate Editor for Accounting Horizons and on the Editorial Board of Accounting in Europe, Accounting Forum, and Accounting Perspectives. Alessandro received the 2019 Aspen Institute ‘Ideas Worth Teaching’ Award.


Jeffrey Hales teaches at the University of Texas at Austin, where he is the Charles T. Zlatkovich Centennial Professor of Accounting. He is a graduate of the accounting program at Brigham Young University and received his Ph.D. from Cornell University. His research interests center on accounting standard setting and regulation, individual decision making, and behavioral finance, using techniques from applied game theory, experimental economics, and psychology. His research has appeared in The Accounting ReviewJournal of Accounting ResearchJournal of Accounting and EconomicsReview of Accounting Studies, and the Journal of Financial Economics, among other journals. He has previously been an editor for Contemporary Accounting Research and Accounting Horizons. He also currently serves on the editorial boards of The Accounting Review and Accounting Organizations and Society. During the 2009-10 academic year, Dr. Hales was a Research Fellow at the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) in Norwalk, CT. In addition, he served as a member of the FASB’s Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council from 2016-2019. He currently sits on the Climate Disclosure Standards Board and the Financial Reporting Council’s Future of Corporate Reporting Advisory Group. Jeffrey Hales serves as the Chair of the 9-person Standards Board at Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB). Before serving on the Standards Board, he chaired the Standards Council for the SASB.


Bertrand Malsch is Associate Professor of Accounting at the Smith School of Business at Queens University since 2013. He holds a PhD in accounting from Laval University and is a member of the Quebec Bar. He is the author of numerous leading articles in international academic journals on the subject of auditing, accounting regulation and governance. His current work funded by SSHRC and Smith research grants focuses on the role of accounting firms in tax avoidance mechanisms and the financial reporting processes of Indigenous communities. He is associate editor of the Behavioral Review of Accounting, Accounting Horizons, Auditing: A Journal of Practice and Theory, and Accounting and Business Research. He also serves on the Editorial Board of Accounting, Organizations and Society, and Contemporary Accounting Research. Bertrand serves as a member of the Cannabis Oversight Committee established by the Cannabis Regulation Act in Quebec in 2019. Bertrand is also an active member of the Extended External Reporting Advisory Group set by the Auditing and Assurance Standards Board in Canada in 2020 to discuss the future of auditing practice. He regularly contributes to public policy discussions by publishing editorials reflecting the content of his research.


Dr. Anne Schnader serves as the Director of the Undergraduate Accounting Practicum program at Suffolk University, and is the past-chair of the Sawyer Business School Teaching Committee. She primarily teaches in the Master of Science in Accounting program where she teaches the MSA capstone course, Big Data and Financial Statement Analysis. Dr. Anne Schnader has focused her research and service efforts on the public interest. As a published researcher she has focused on the role of accountants and auditors in protecting the investing public. She has published numerous works on auditing and internal controls at Broker-Dealers. Her work has appeared in well regarded journals in the accounting space such as Contemporary Accounting Research, Accounting Horizons, Current Issues in Auditing, and Accounting and the Public Interest. She is also the President-elect of the Public Interest Section. Beyond her academic responsibilities, Dr. Schnader is the Director of a family office, where she manages estate, legal, investment, and tax planning for her clients. She has also served on the Investment Committee for Green D Ventures, a venture capital fund.
