Editors marked with an asterisk (*) will serve as Lead Editors. In addition to their regular editorial duties, Lead Editors will support the Senior Editor by sharing some of the Senior Editor’s responsibilities. On selected manuscripts, a Lead Editor may act in the capacity of the Senior Editor, including assigning editors and issuing decision letters. Lead Editors will also assist with desk rejections and the processing of appeals.
The journal's Editorial Policy states that The Accounting Review "should be viewed as the premier journal for publishing articles reporting the results of accounting research and explaining and illustrating related research methodology. The scope of acceptable articles should embrace any research methodology and any accounting-related subject, as long as the articles meet the standards established for publication in the journal." It also states that "[t]opical areas of interest to the journal include accounting information systems, auditing and assurance services, financial accounting, management accounting, taxation, and all other areas of accounting, broadly defined. The journal is also open to all rigorous research methods."‡
Consistent with this Editorial Policy, the group of Editors listed above have expertise in a wide range of accounting-related subjects and methodologies. In addition to this group, the Senior Editor and the Lead Editors may, as needed, appoint Ad hoc Editors to handle individual manuscripts. Using Ad hoc Editors will provide additional flexibility to the editorial team in terms of topics and methods. Ad hoc Editors are particularly well suited for manuscripts that require specialized expertise not represented among the standing Editors.
