Accounting Ethics and the Purpose of a Code

The purpose of accounting ethics is simply to get accounting professionals to do the right thing. But in a pluralistic society with innumerable philosophies and creeds, who is to say what is right or wrong? And how, as a profession, do we get on the same ethical page? This presentation reveals what every professional code of conduct has in common, identifies what makes the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ Code of Professional Conduct unique, and proposes a methodology to help you and your students internalize the Code—all with the goal to strengthen the accounting profession.

Learning Objective(s): To learn about a methodology to help you and your students internalize the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct.
